    Loft Conversion

    Hi All

I'm at the point where I am looking to extend the home-office and maybe have a bit of a man-cave thing going on.

    I've got 2 choices

1 - Build it on top of an extension we have on the side of the house - which we build as a kids room. It's big enough but I'm concerned about the additional weight.
2 - Build a loft extension in the roof. It seems an ideal way to grab more space but I've never seen one here that I can recall and I'd rather not be somebody's first attempt.

I am in Bangkok but a builder from Patts seems doable to me. A fella from Pattaya did my insulation and that was top notch.

    Any thoughts.

Apart from not doing it, of course. Although the why's would be noice.

    Don

Good luck with your project and welcome to the forum.

    Aircon/windows an option for you?

Difficult to advise without being familiar with the existing stricture and the space flow.
But in a country where heat is a problem, keep in mind that Loft areas get hot, You know heat rises and all.

I can pass on windows but would definitely need aircon.

It's a 3 bed detached - from the pic - it looks like 2 rooves as it's a U shaped house - you can see from the neighbours on the right that the roof is pretty shallow.

Yes - was also going to have solar panels added as part of the project 'cause the air con will be on a lot.

Plus - I recall a firm in Pattaya that does very good insulation work, so will dig those guys our again if I can get this off the ground.
