How long do halogen downlights last?

I have approximately 70 halogen downlights in the house which have been in for three and half years and not had to change any. Over the past three days five lights have expired in different rooms is this a normal timeframe thing or some other problem?
is it possible to change the blown ones with LED’s or do I need to change the whole lot?
    Would appreciate replies.

if they are screw in halogens you should be able to buy LEDs that are the same "screw base " size . IN Thailand we build the house about three years , so we had all LEDs installed, but in the US the house is 20 years old, and had old , incadensend and a few halogens, I replaced them all with LEDs, you can not believe the difference it made in my electric bill, Not only because they burn less electricity, but also because they run cool , don't heat the house, and reduce the A/C bill. Halogens are what they use to keep the french-fries warm at McDonalds , LOL
Did you ever try to touch a halogen? A lot of their energy go to heat
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

These halogens push in with two pins and to change to another halogen I had to smash the globe out of the holder this morning and then sand the holder before inserting a new spare halogen globe.
i think I will be changing to LED but on researching there is a lot of talk about transformers, I can’t access the roof area themanhole is to small and the wires are so tight I can’t pull to see if there are transformers are attached is there any other way of knowing?
