Good morning all. Although I have been viewing this forum for many years, I have just registered & joined. I am actually in Laos, but most of the building styles, building materials, builders' competency (or lack thereof), etc are identical to Thailand, so it is a very useful forum to have at hand!

I am about to begin installing plasterboard (drywall) walls and ceilings in my new house and am looking for some advice regarding local materials. In the Western world, there are various grades & thicknesses of plasterboard, specifically designed for walls or ceilings. Do we have the same variations locally or is it a case of one product fits all? The brands I can buy locally are Gyprock, Elephant, SGC and a couple of others that I forget now. They are all around the same price per sheet but I would prefer to stick with a reputable brand name. I believe Elephant brand is made by the Thai subsidiary of Boral, so it should be good.

If there are various grades for walls vs ceilings, are they clearly labelled (in English preferably) as such or are they colour coded in some way?

Lastly, are there any recommendations for related materials such as joint tape, plaster, screws, etc.

Cheers, James.

PS: I am doing the construction myself... local builders are so slapdash that I would probably have to rip it all out and do it myself at some stage anyway, so I figured I may as well just do it myself from the start.
