^^ Yup. That is the same as I was thinking.

I am not an electrician, nor have much knowledge in that area. I recently replace my bathroom water heater. The guy who did it went a bit mental when he found out the old one had no earth, There is now a separate wire out of the new heater, which goes through the wall down to a metal spike he drilled into the ground.

Might be worth checking at the least.

...this is what we did in our shower: we selected a temp we were both comfortable with and never touch the heater again until it's replaced...

I thought the same, but I was overruled.

On/Off-Temp. The water valve to the heater is below the heater.

I like the string idea...a simple piece of string looped around the dial. Pull one side to turn the heater on, the other side to turn it off. I just worry about the vertical stresses on the horizonal dial eventually causing issues.

If I'm lying I'm dying, the wife just told me she doesn't want steps in the bathroom because she wouldn't want to leave them in there. I pointed out they're plastic/rubber so they'd be ok.

I'm thinking of glueing a suction cup to a short piece of decorative pvc/plastic handle of some sort.

Rubber steps are NOT innovative solutions! They're bog standard, what a normal person would do if they had half a brain.

There's two other very simple solutions:

    1. Get a new wife. Or...
    2. Always shower together.

    No need to over-complicate things.

probably best for his health if he does not share option 1 as a viable solution.

Maybe a short stick with a soft rubber grip handle could work. Like a golf club handle or bicycle handlebar grips that wouldn’t slip when turning the dial.
