So in a dry climate like Australia (and Arizona I believe) evaporative air conditioners work well but here in the tropics when it gets humid, or for that matter anywhere where it is humid, they are not worth a damn.
If you are using an evaporative air conditioner you also need to ensure there is flow through ventilation i.e. a window open at the opposite end of the house to the air entrance into the house from the air conditioner.
So for something like this to work really well you would need a big variance in between the dry bulb temperature and the wet bulb temperature.
