Water pump to add pressure to garden hose / tap ? Anything cheap and portable ?

Hello,

If the house does not have enough water pressure but you would like to add more pressure to specific taps or to garden hose, how can you do ?

Is there a kind of cheap and portable pump that you can start only when you use it ? a kind of pressure water but without as much pressure ?

But maybe a water tank would also be needed ? Do they exist smaller than the big blue ones that I see in front of houses ? A water tank that I could fill manually when I know that I will need it ?

You will certainly need a tank, unless you have a pond to pump from ? (which would be a completely different setup) You "could" use a 200L drum, but that is not really much water when you are talking about watering a garden so a small (one thousand litre) tank is the best option, combined with an automatic pump (such as this : https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1056428 ) that will come on as soon as you open a tap. You would not need to manually fill the tank, just have a float connected to the inlet so that water comes in when the tank level goes down. The pumps are not really portable as they need an electrical supply, a longer hose would be a better choice than an extension cord. Cheap ? I think the cheapest decent auto pump is around 5000 baht, you can get centrifugal pumps cheaper than that but I don't think any of them are automatic.

In general, the submersible pumps (daewoh in Thai) are not giving much pressure (height), unless it's a very strong and expensive.

What mikenot writes above is correct, in no way to connect the pump directly to the pipe coming from city water system without a storage tank.

Instead of the automatic pump for some 4 - 5,000 B, you can use a cheaper pump for 1,2 - 1,500 B (ca. 0,5 HP giving a sufficient pressure - buy in GH, TW), switched on/off once you need it for the watering.

Then not to forget to turn off the valve to the pump after you finish the watering, otherwise the tank will get empty thru the pump.

Buy a pressure washer. It's a portable pump that goes anywhere. Get the most powerful one you can buy. Not a problem connecting to the mains supply via a tap.

yes maybe good idea as they are easy to carry and move, but why the most powerful ? I don't need a pressure washer, i just need a pump to connect to a hose.

do you think that I could find a cheap pressure washer that won't be too powerful ? and instead of a gun I could connect a standard hose ?

Well they would work, for a 10 minute run you would need at least 1500 litre tank for the smallest (400W) one. You would have enough pressure for a garden hose. But they are not automatic, was n't that one of your criteria ?
IMHO, if you don't want to get an auto pump, then you would be better buying a centrifugal pump available in the usual hardware stores for not much more than the unknown quality of something off Lazada.

As mikenot suggested, my best guess would be a tank with pump.

Using the pressure washer without the cleaning attachments is what I meant. If you buy a cheap one you get cheap results.

No idea of a system the OP is asking for, but I recently had enough of the low pressure in my house and installed the tank and pump system. 20K all in and worth every baht.

If installed behind the house installation just for garden watering: Tank 1,000 L = 4,000B, + pump =1,200 Baht + less than 1,000 Baht for a pipe and fittings .
(can add rainwater harvesting into the tank, saving the water bill and the environment - Greta will send a latter with thanks)

If installed before the house inlet some 4,000 Baht more for the automatic pump, thus having better pressure for the house and garden as well.
