I quite do not understand the tone of the discussion about different construction materials. I do not persuade anybody to build with my "beloved" cinder blocks, I am just sharing my experience that enables me to build with a cheap material available around, while supporting the local supplier and the local brick layers who like this technique for them so familiar.
Beside that, it enables me to build without the usual columns/beams that delay the construction time substantially and increase the cost as well.
And once the columns/beams are realized the house usually will not have the double wall for a better insulation, just a simple one by whatever cheap or expensive blocks/bricks. Then consequently, it will have the columns sticking out of the inside wall line, thus disturbing the furniture layout.
The double wall with cavity by cinder blocks can be load bearing (but perhaps the AA blocks can do it either, I haven't seen such), hence it enables me to built even very large structures as e.g.:
