How do I make a cement/concrete base ?
I hope this will be the shortest Thread ever .
One question .
One simple and clear answer .
And one " Thank You " .
At the side of Missy's home there is a soil patch about 4m wide and 15m long . Well trodden for maybe a thousand years .
She's going back to Thailand for a while and she would like a flat concrete base there . Strong enough to stand a tractor on . Or maybe much later a single story Storage/Workshop/Spare Bedroom . Not a lot of weight.
I've been reading some of the construction tales -- fascinating again -- but there are lots of pictures of holes and rebar and posts being prepared but I don't see a straight flat concrete flat outdoor base flat .... in any detail .
Went onto Youtube .
This guy looked very good . Nice video clearing a space - pulling out a tree stump - spreading gravel - putting planks around the edge - putting down a damp whatever sheet - steel meshy stuff lifted 2 inches off the ground and then a concrete pour and levelling. It all looked perfectly good to me .
Then I read the comments and the guy got absolutely SLAMMED !!!!!!!
Time after time he was just slaughtered .
SO ....... do we have to go down a certain depth ? Then what ? Hard fill ? Mesh ? Concrete pour ?
Using my own thinking that should just about be fine . Do I need a damp whatever .... in Thailand ? I suppose I do .
If you can be bothered with this question , please can you just give me the 4 or 5 straightforward steps such that it doesn't immediately get a TORRENT of abuse like the poor Yankee received ?
A straight easy question. DONE
A simple brilliant 5-step answer .
A thank you .
And no-one needing to come back and write abuse.
