Two simple houses / bungalows with only 1 main room and shower/toilet +shared kitchen

Two simple houses / bungalows with only 1 main room and shower/toilet + shared kitchen in front / between the 2 houses ?

    hello,

I want to build 2 simple houses / bungalows with only 1 main room + shower in each house.
Maybe 40sqm each house, 1 for me, 1 for the girlfriend and family when they visit.
Each room will have its own shower and toilet, but I would like to build a nice (outdoor) kitchen shared by the 2 houses.

How would you build it ?

2 bungalows facing each other with the kitchen in the middle ?
2 bungalows next to each other with the kitchen in the back ?

    Any ideas welcome !

    Thanks a lot.

It would depend on the size and shape of the land.

One thing though: two houses means two roofs, of course. The most expensive part.
