    Insulation Blocks in Thailand

First off we shall start with the old "QCon" Blocks, these are now down to a measely 25baht each so the building cost is on par with using crappy red bricks, ie each one you lay is equivelant to quite a few bricks ( no I am not going to work out how many bricks) also you use only 3 mm of mortar so they set off real quick and they are also nice and square which makes it easy to build a straight wall, anyway can you tell me where the builders went wrong on this job?

Looks like he blocked in a window but it may just be the perspective. Don't you have to use special morter for these blocks? How much does that add to the cost. Is that price of 25B for the 100mm blocks?

Dougal get's it in one, yep they put in windows where there wernt supposed to be windows, then infilled the spaces, the mortar used is crocodile cement, but as you use so little of it it really doesn't increase the cost that much, the blocks are 900mm but are then rendered off

DD...I always thought that the red bricks were better than the thin blocks. It seems to me (at least in Khon Kaen) that new expensive houses are constructed w/ the red blocks and cheap ban nock houses are built w/ the thin blocks...am I wrong?

These are not the blocks you are thinking of, the ones you are thinking of are called breeze blocks, they cost about 3baht each, qcon blocks cost 25baht each.
