He was a sheep shearer and maybe it was one of his jobs to scale the tree on the Farm and cut the limb.

Mind you, in those days, it was a hand saw.

    ---

I've had the ladder slip while I was cutting a 6 metre (18-19 ft palm), but I was able to cling to the trunk until help (my sister) arrived.

Worst I've ever done is fall out of the man-hole in the ceiling onto the concrete slab.
Sooooooooooooo much pain to move, but eventually did. ended up in Hospital.

But Fishy , I've never fell from that height.

    Hope everything turns out OK.

Get well soon and take heaps of photos of the nurses and attractive Doctors please

No sweat, They said I didn't break anything and there is no internal bleeding. So yea, I'll be ok I guess. I just feel even with the pain meds like I just did ten rounds with a really determine MMA fighter.

They said wait till tomorrow and sent me home. I hope I sleep till noon. The nurse said no alcohol or I may not wake up. F that. I took three shots of Jimmy Beam and half a Leinenkugel's Creamy Dark . Only live once.

fish out. I'll be back bitches. No joke Howard. ..

Congratulations on surviving a gravity attack.
My extension ladder has a gentle curve in it from a similar stunt.

Thanks for the well wishes David and docmartin, crazy video btw. The gal that asked me to remove my pants was a looker but the prize was the gal at the MRI table. She told me I'd feel a warm sensation when she injects the contrast solution. I said I allready did when you touched my shoulder. I asked her why she wasn't married, she said too busy. Damn, you don't hear that evey day.

Anyway I'm going to see if I can't finsh what I started. If I can pull start the saw I may be able to run it. Been a slow start for today.

I'm not one to lie down and take it. I tore a hamstring once practicing high snap Kicks. I folded for a second but immediately went for a jog. I was at work screwing off and
didn't want to have to explain how I screwed myself up.

By far the stupidest thing I ever did. I should have had the ladder on the uphill side and tied it off to the tree.

How I walked away from this with just a badly bruised back and ribs I'll never know. I told the gf my mother's spirt caught me. She believes it. Hell so do I.

Glad to hear you came through it relatively unscathed. We all do stupid things. I sure have and will do more no doubt.

Thanks Norton. I should have known better for as many times as I've done this type of work. How that limb ended up on the back side of the ladder is beyond me. Lucky it fell first I I could have been under it.

Haven't done anything out there except measured the limb to the ground below. 17ft. So that put my Noggin at 20ft. The ground is at an 8/12 pitch so my dumb as mellon traveled 21+ feet before it met the earth.

Lucky I cleared all the small trees and brush to ground level (Tip#2) Or I would have me Vlad the Impaler.

Haven't picked up the saw yet. I may give it a pause for a bit.

    Live and learn, f##fish.

A rough calculation indicates that your head may have been doing about 40 km/h when you stopped descending.

Simple stuff. I liked the simple tool holders @ the 3.05m mark, using a self tapping screw as a drill, perfect size to take the next screw @ 4.05m mark and the dome nut which, when drilled is a simple cable fastener/joiner.

This tip comes handy here in Thailand where concrete is used everywhere. For many years I worked in the Highrise construction industry and we used this technique to nail forms to the concrete.

Drill a 2/16 hole though the material you want to nail (plywood, in our case) and concrete
stick a piece of tie wire, or even electrical wire with solid core, though the material and the hole
then nail the material with a 16 D nail. We used double head nails so we could pull the nail out and strip the forms.
The Nail mashes the wire into the wall of the hole , you would be amazed how well it holds, it was difficult to pull the nail out with a claw hummers,
A way to pull stubborn nails out is to not pull the hummer backwards as most people do, but pull it sideways,

You can use any size nail ( not too small or would bend ) as long as the corresponding hole is the size of the nail diameter.
The sooner you fall behind, the more time you have to catch up.

Sorry david but this guy is either full of shit, or an idiot
Firstly, this will only work if you happen to have a hole exactly the same size as a drill you had. How offer does that happen?
Second, he takes a simple job and makes it complicated and a big deal
and third, you will also need drywall tape to tape the adges so that later on a crack does not form there.

Here is how you repair any hole any size or shape ,quickly and easily
First cut around the hole , and square it to a predetermined size , Usually an inch bigger than the hole .
so let's say now you created a hole 4"x4"
-Cut a repair piece of drywall 6"x6"
-from the back of that piece cut 4"x4" making sure not to cut all the way through
-Brake off the 2" sides of the repair piece making sure to not remove the front finish paper .(that's why you did not cut all the way trough from the back)
So now what you have is a repair piece that is 4"x4" , but the front finish paper is 6"x6"
_put joint compound around the inside of the repair hole. and about 3" of the wall area around the hole
Place the repair piece in the hole using the front paper (6"x6") for your tape and to hold your repair piece in place until the join compound dries and you have a repair indistinguishable from the remaining drywall.

    Paten pending

    ^^^
    Ha ha ha
so i watched the vid all the way through , and in the end he did not even tape the bigger hole
The he says "after it dries, give it a second coat and you will not have any problems"

Well,, yes you will. Since there is no flexible paper over the join edges, the crack can eventually form, which why drywallers tape joins.

PS: what is the deal with drywall tape in Thailand?
all I can find is 1" wide!! In the US the drywall tape is
2" wide with a score in the midleg so that it can easily be bend and form a corner for taping inside corners.
How do they tape inside corners in Thailand?

^ Some ideas are good and others are a bit frilly and don't work very good in practice.

If a picture paints a thousand words, your explanation of this should be very concise.

    Helpful hint:
After handling chilli pepper flakes, Don't scratch your balls, unless you wash your hands.
Not even scrubbing with soap and water will get the burn off.
    Err.. I've been told.

Brother, It only happens to you once. if it happens more than once you are either some kind of stupid, or a sexual deviant.
I know you are not stupid.
