    Waterfilter position?

Had and ongoing issue with a Mazuma whole house waterfilter from poor backwash pressure to zero, and when it does work it leaves air all around the property with all taps needing to be bled. And recently due to the lack of backwash pressure, the water smells of bad eggs for a few seconds.

The install was a farce from day one, with clean and dirty water mixed after the filtration stage, only for them to reroute the output further down meeting the municiple simply!

Curious, but should the filter come after the pump? As it stands the filter is in between the water tank and pump. So in theory the filter is preventing water pressure from entering the pump, I pressume?

    Potential Problems with Hydrogen Sulfide

If you have hydrogen sulfide in your water supply it can damage pipes as it corrodes many different types of metals and can also cause black stains on silverware and plumbing fixtures. In most cases drinking water that has a strong rotten egg odor, although particularly unpleasant, is perfectly safe to drink. However in some rare occasions the odor may be caused by sewage or other contaminates in a building’s water supply, which could cause health problems.

Mixed opionions on that one. Filtered water stored in the tank will generate bacteria after a few days.

I would suggest the minimum filtration for any home water supply is one w 10j polyspun 1 micron. This is installed straight after the pump and before the water enters the house.

Cheers. Mine does seem to produce the smell from the hot water shower only!

What Not to Do to Get Rid of Smelly Water We've heard of plumbers or handymen advising people to remove the sacrificial anodes from their water heaters as a solution to smelly water. It's a solution all right, but one that will ensure that your water heater rusts out in record time. There is a reason why removing an anode voids all the manufacturers' warranties.
Additionally, people have been told to replace a magnesium anode with an aluminum one. Don't. Aluminum causes just as many rotten eggs as magnesium.

Same as mine. Main to filter to underground tank to pump to house. I have a hot water boiler with additional small filter on input.

    I backflush the filter monthly.

Have mine before the tank. So clean water enter the tank
Tank is 1200 liter so water changes quite often.

If you put the filter after the tank your pressure will be very low, if not the filter is a complete waste of time and filters nothing, must be before the tank.

If I did this I would be dirtier after a shower than before. My town water comes from a big hole in the ground with an iffy seldom working filter. Fine if ya like brownish green smelly water for a shower.

    tank... pump....filter

if not,why do they put a pressure guage on the top of the filter that reads up to 6 bar???

both the town water and the water from the bore pass through the filter before going to either the tank or the house - I have valves set up so I can use as I require

the bore pump is mainly used for watering the yard , but I can put it through the filter and to the house if needed
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

I see the reasoning behind this, but will the standing water generate bacteria? Thought 3-5 days and the water is dirty?

I understand crippen's point although the gauge is irrelevent. But the filter being the last stage is surely providing filtered and clean water on demand, with the exception of standing water in the pipes.

Additionally, one issue we have is there being inadequate pressure from the main to force a backwash. Surely, the filter being stage one isn't going to backwash as it should.

your filter can be anywhere you wish - there will be pressure drop across your filter of course , so depending on the input pressure it may decide the placement

I use it on the input side of all water to the house - the town pressure is normall ok after it and the tank has its own pump when I need it

I use the tank periodically to cycle it and also empty it once in a while and give it a scrub

I don't drink the tap water , but use it to brush my teeth - you can always just use bottled water to brush your teeth if you think the risk is too much

Cheers. I have a gravity water filter for drinking water.

Where it is positioned now, it is a pain. So I will install after the pump (last stage) and see how it goes.

My other filter, the Master pure Alien type one i have, was installed after the pump (no tank) and this has been running perfect for 3 years plus.

Just go into a homepro and it is displayed near the pump section, the correct way as I stated.
water metre, water filter, tank, water pump.

Do it as you had before as it Tank, Pump, filter & house.
When you install the filter in it right position, backwash first.
check your pressure gauge, if your running 4 bar then you should backwash 3.5 bar.
So with all filter for house or swimming pool 0.5 drop in pressure, it time to backwash.

    Crippen you are right

Bacteria if it is there will be in the water, will it not? It doesn't mystically appear from thin air. So will propagate in the filter as well as the tank.

Best way to counter if you think it is there and your town water is not chlorinated is to bung some Haiter, 2 drops per litre or 100 ml/1000 litres, into the tank.

If the best place for the filter is after the tank it will take out any residual taste or smell. But people have been drinking chlorinated/flourated water for years without ill effects.
Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?
I apologize if any offence was caused. unless it was intended.

How did you know that I am manufacture water filter

So who would that so called idiot be , now we know 555

Most the water supplied is low pressure to low to backwash, so it is a good idea to have a tank.
Then you would have the pump supplying the house.
It at this time you would fit a filter to clean the water before the wayer go into the house.
