    Closet finished and installed

I wanted to close this out as some were interested in the closet.

The job was well done. Matches the room perfectly and gives us plenty of storage for clothes and linens.

They brought the unit to our house in pieces and staged it in our car park area where they finished the wood and stained to match the colors of our other bedroom furnishings. His wife is on the floor checking fit as well. She is the nicest lady.

Installed. Each compartment has 3 drawers and a hanging section. Up above is additional storage

The builder and his friend installing the doors and hardware

The completed closet with matching crown molding trim at the top to tie it all in.

My wife and I are extremely happy with the craftsmanship and the detail work. What I like is it has it flaws but that gives it a matching character. To bad he is no longer doing this. Such a shame to see this kind of skill retire but I understand.

    Thanks DM,

to your point, Yes we were/are very fortunate in many regards as he did all the Teak wood for our house. Front double doors, all molding, internal doors, Collapsible TV room doors with glass, etc. He seemed to enjoy the project on our house with our closet being his most challenging. I have to say he and his wife are the nicest folks. Always smiling and laughing. Also they didn't see some foreigner and figure "Hey we can make a lot of money" as that seems to be the view most foreigners have of Thais. In fact he charged us very little for the closet build, he did it for the project. I was surprised quite frankly as was my wife. She tried to give him a bit more and he refused.

As I said before its a shame he will stop. Craftsmen like him are very hard to find.

My wife asked him last week if he would build us a shoe rack. He laughed and politely declined......however he called back and will drop by to see what my wife wants. LOL!!

Given the opportunity and the ability to keep it modest, then I don't believe he will give up that easy, he enjoys it too much.

Funny you should mention that. He came by last night and got the shoe closet all designed. I just left the wood shop and am on my way to his place to drop it off. This will not be made of Teak. This will be AA grade plywood with exterior wood grain. It will be downstairs underneath no need for big dollar Teak.

    Hey J,

Sorry about the delay in replying, not on every day! I was hoping to come over for xmas, already got tickets paid for, but with my loss of job we are going to put that trip back. Probably go over end April and get a few things fixed up around the house, but maybe 12 months before we go over to stay for good. I am still waiting on govt to approve my pension, been 2 months now. Once they approve it they should back pay to when I put in the request. At the moment we are struggling on just my wife's income from her job doing massage at a local Chinese massage place. I also will probably wait to get replacement hip and knee which is free here and the local hospital is very good, but non urgent surgery takes a long time to go ahead unless you have health insurance. Anyway I look forward to travelling around Thailand and catching up with you for a quiet drink.

M good to hear from you. That quiet drink is always waiting. I am still working here so its open for me as well. My retirement plans have been pushed. Guess its good we remain flexible to the changes.

Well finally going to close out the House build deal. Had the ceremonial house build kick off last year and now going to close it out by having 9 monks and a party to finish it up. Of course anyone doing these it is a big deal(for the wife that is, almost as stressful for her as a wedding)

Rushing around doing a few last minute deals. Not doing a big party. We will take it easy but keep it simple.

I will post up some pics

Well I have to say My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The wood work craftsman/ cabinet maker made us a very cool shoe and storage area that inserted right into an area we had showed him some time back. This guy is really one of the nicest fellas I have met in years. This was a gift to us from him and his wife for our house blessing.

    This is top stuff

He called us to drop by to chat when I got back to home. We went over to wish them Happy New Year and this was sitting there.

We had a friend with a big flat bed truck deliver and he followed us set it in and he trimmed it to fit.

Again, attention to detail. Installed a nice screen to keep various unwanted friends out.

Today was the house blessing. Was a very interesting and fun event. the day before my BIL and I ran a string around the house, car park and kitchen and back into the house to the Buddha.

Last night the flower gal arrived and we started to put in place

We set up the area for the 9 monks to sit.

My niece and SIL set up a dinner setting for them. My aunt, wife, SIL and Cousin got up at 4am and prepared food.

My FIL's friend set up the blessing items

My BIL and I went to our local Temple and picked up the 9 monks. one thing that was very nice was the long standing monk of the local temple was available and he came and did the blessing. My FIL and WIfe were especially happy.

RickChoppers dropped by to share in the blessing. Was good to see him again.

Most everybody left and went back to work as this is a work day but the party and music starts tonight at 6pm.

Thanks Rivo. The party was a blast.

All the furnishings inside we brought over in the cargo container. It paid for itself 2 or 3 times over.

    Cheers

The largest room 8m x 5.5m. We have Mitsubishi Mr Slim 20,000. I spec'd all 25% over their recommendation because I didn't want them running all out to sustain the desired room temperature. However we seldom ever use them. We have ceiling fans in every room and they work quite well.

Yeah Mr M the blessing went off well. We had about 80 or so people drop by during the day. We had the blessing in the morning. The actual party started at 6pm that night. 60 or so came back. We had music, beer, whiskey and catered food. I was of course sipping my Tequila all night as I can't drink but 1 Leo and their whiskey I use as parts cleaner on my truck, bike and motorcycle. HAHAHAHA. The food was quite good. I was surprised as a lot of people danced. Most blessings I have been to that doesn't happen they just watch girls on stage. We didn't have that, we had 1 young gal doing most of the singing until the liquor kicked in and the wife's friends started singing. Most of friends can sing pretty well. I have some great pics and Video's

The party closed out around 11pm. Took me, my wife and other family members about 1.5 hours to police the place up(somewhat). In the morning I spent 2+ hours power washing all the beer, food and soda and dirt shit off the floor underneath the house. Cleaned up easy.

The house blessing money received we bought some new padded benches for the temple by our house which they really appreciated and the balance went to my niece for her college expenses.

    Anyway Its all done now.

Great stuff mate! Looks like I'm not going to be able to do a housewarming for my place. We did get the priests and neighbours to do a small one a while back, so it has been blessed in Buddhist style, but due to lack of finances I don't reckon we will be doing the big party as originally planned.

    Nice build

Great build you did. The garage and workshop really finish it off. I like your use of lawn as well. It will keep the small critters away from the home. All the Best.
