    Borehole drilling in Sankamphaeng

    Hi all,
Having acquired land with the vision of creating a garden with a house in it (house build not yet started) and having experienced that recent crazy dry season, where gov't water was rationed, even with water now connected, a 5 metre deep well and pond excavated, I would expect water supply to be an issue again in the future, so need to get a borehole set up.

Can anyone recommend a borehole drilling service in Sankampaeng area of Chiang Mai that won't rip me off?

I have asked about in the area and have had a range of reports back, a quote has been given of ฿200k, and although this seems high, it does include all the drilling, pipes, pump and filtration system installed, plus a 1 year guarantee. That said though, I have also been informed that borehole drilling companies usually just add on more and more costs once they start, which could push up the price to some ridiculous amount.

Any suggestions or insights would be most welcome ...and yes, I know asking openly for suggestions on this forum might lead to some varied and wonderfully random contributions, but I'll consider it as my initiation as a first time poster here!

There is a well driller here in Sansei who has worked for several people I know and me over the years, small and large projects. When I had any problems with my well system, filter, or pump, I called him. Not the cheapest outfit you will find, but certainly the most professional with the best outcome.

Went to city water a couple of years ago so haven't contacted him in a while. Will stop by his shop this week and get his telephone number if you are interested in speaking with him. He will more than likely go out to Sankampheng.

B200K is outrageous, even with a filter.

As a guideline I paid 60k Baht last year for 6" bore well drilled to 53m (in Udon Thani), that included submersible pump etc, but no filter system as not needed.

The shop is south of Mae Jo on highway 1001. Left side if traveling into the city. Let me stop by and get more contact info.

Contact numbers for the well driller, Mr. Nakorn and son.

    cell 095-452-5959
    cell 081-952-0874
    office 053-498-576

Nakorn speaks a bit of English when in person, not so much by phone. Better have a Thai speaker to make the appointment with him.

Begbie, the office is in the area between the two Mae Jo traffic lights. If traveling towards CM, it is in the block just before the second light on the left side.

If Nakorn does not work out another well established company is L'analytic Water Work LP Tel. 053 410182-3 on Chotana Road.

When talking about price there are a large number of variables and you should discuss them with the contractor first:

    1. Depth
    2. Diameter of casing in completed well.
    3. Type and grade of casing. It is likely to be PVC casing. Class 13.5 is a lot thicker and durable than Class 8.5 but costs more. Thai Pipe make a special 4" water well casing that is a bit larger than normal so that a 4" submersible can be installed in it.
    4. Expected yield and type of pump to be installed.
    5. Diameter and length of screen to be installed. This can be slotted pipe, PVC continuous aperture screen or stainless steel wire wound. Big price differences between them so best to sort it out first.
    6. Will well be gravel packed?

There is a website for the Department of Groundwater Resources (www.2dgr.go.th). This has a facility where you can enter your location (village, amphur, province) and get the results of government wells in the area so you can get an idea on depths and yields. There is an English version of the website but the Thai one works better.

    Good luck.

Had a well made in Khon Kaen a couple of years ago.

63 meter and incl. pump fitted (no filter)

20 k or 25 k. Can't remember, but remember that they wanted more when they found out that I wasn't thai.

Average price in my area is 15,000 baht , that is for the lot ,drilling, pump, and installation , they had one done just across the way from me a month ago, they went down to 52 metre's and found plentiful good clean water , if I was you I would get in touch with the farangs who live in your area , the very last thing you should do is approach relatives of your wife or girl friend for advice .

About the same here in Surin ....but it's all about your subsoil, if you have to go through layers of rock to hit water it will cost a lot more !!

Its a rip off , 15,000 baht is the normal price for everything here in Buriram (Prakonchai ) Of course if they have to travel a bit far out there will be a little extra travelling cost but 80 ,000 is ridiculous , I'll get there phone number and PM it to you shortly .

Yep, 15-16,000 here as well Piwanoi. That's just the bore-hole, no pump. No pay if no water.

Finally managed to find the working page for the gov't interactive map for groundwater resources in my area.

(can't post link as I am a suspected spambot who has yet to post more than 5 times)

According to 'er indoors... "it not working, jus ignore it" (followed by that annoyed "AAAWWWAAHHH" sound that only females from Isaan can conjure up).

Edit: figured it out myself, seems depth is about 90m and 4inch pipe seems to be the way forward.

    next step.. phone calls
