Building a house in Si Sa Ket Province

My wife has property in Sisaket. We are planning to build a house there in the future, maybe 2-3 yrs. I would like to have a 3 bedroom home with air, and maybe a large outbuilding to store things. Can anyone there give me an idea what costs would be for something like this? I've been researching and it seems ,since she has property, it might be better to just build instead of buying a house on some other persons property. Anyone who has done this already ,especially in this province?

Before going, [my wife has property] check the land title and zoning.
There are laws and rules, maybe not enforced much up to now in rural areas, Thai's no problem, no one care.

Then someone cares and a bulldozer is knocking own our house, takes one government department, to come a looking, or one person to make a formal complaint.
It happens more often then many think and if you haven't done it legal, so sad to bad.

Do your home work before you spend money building.

I think 10k to 50k+ per sq m would be more likely!

Without knowing details its a how long is a piece of string question.

2 million baht probably in the end - but start by saying you only want to spend 1 million

The house is for his wife, security for her.
Lots of guys build out in the sticks, after a few months they are climbing the walls and off to Pattaya, wife needs a place to go home to if things go bear shaped.

I should think that his wifes family will feel very secure too with a pad worth two million in their daughters name

Quite true and a very good point , but to build a house in a town or in the sticks unfortunately costs the same

a double sized shophouse of 2-3 stories would probably be a rational build with minimal problems for your average country builder - especially if you can be located on a reasonable road

Fred, just a thought. How much time have you spent in Sisaket ?

Have you tried living for 90 days in the area where you intend to build your new house or do you plan to prior to starting construction ? (...just to see as this is your future , do you feel fully comfortable in that area ?)

If you enjoy it and can envision an LT stay , then you can be fully involved with overseeing your project while you're living there.

OTHERWISE , if you truly love her just hand over the money and allow her to do as she wishes.
It's her home and her family's future home after all.

If reasonable road means access to phone line, sewer, water and electric, you bet it's important.
If no have, you are looking at big additional cost and long term maintenance.

Much more info needed for any sort of should cost.

Mabey a quiet getaway for him.

I had a place built away from the town. The response from the sisters was "why build a house away from town and us sisters". The reality is they walk to "the farm house" every day anyway. Yes it's her mom's farm land.I think we ,the girlfriend and I, have about 30k into building it. That was five years ago though. And its still a work in progress. No air con ect.

If its on a river or has a view you like just build it. If it would set you back if It burns down keep your money in a local bank so your brothers and sisters can fight over it when you pass.

Do a picture thread on here. I would like to see it . And let us know the costs, good stuff really.

    Good luck.

That being said we have lived together for twenty plus years. Also I have nothing to loose or should I say I'm not worried about it.

The bonus is that fishing is right out the front door. I always take someone along to land the fish as I am not familiar with all that's in the river. Some strange types to me.

I wish you well and hope you don't get stung as many have. Oh, I'm not talking about the fresh water stingrays.
