I'm doing my shopping for my return to Thailand right now. Shopping list:
Anti-scald, temperature controlled faucets for all the sinks and showers and Japanese-style toilet seats with heater seats (not that I'll be setting that above 0 in Thailand), heated water, 4 way adjustable nozzles and adjustable temp air dry.

In the electrical department, "Y" fittings to plug two bulbs into one socket and outlets you can screw into a lamp socket. I had a small storage room once and it had just a light socket in the ceiling, I removed the bulb, installed the Y with the outlet screwed in one side and I had an outlet to plug in the trickle charger for my bike battery. In the other socket I screwed in a pull-switch and a bulb so I still had light.

You'd think Thais still live in caves and mud huts,the way some of you are going on.

The stuff you buy anyway was most probably made in China.

Probably made in China but not available in Thailand or a lot of other countries. A lot of things here are 5x the price and not as high of quality. Whenever I travel to Europe, U.S. or Asia I buy things that I can't find at my next destination.

One thing I always keep an out for is an on demand propane gas water heater..something they used to call a geezer in UK way back when. I know they are available but certainly not seen 'em in the sticks.

Our local library has a bunch of home improvement magazines.....ads in there for practically anything you could ever want or need and available in Thailand though most suppliers seem to be in BKK Found this:

Think I am gonna go out today and see if I can find a bog with mood lighting and a Denon sound system......then again I really only need a new bog brush.

Yep!!! Sounds like you have a real practical list there too, all things I'd have uses for and can't find. The Japanese toilet seats sound like heaven.

Yes and Crepita's if you been readin? Been there and done that already.. 10 years there and good riddance. Trying to figure out what's wrong with being informed and educated? That's a crime or something to be ashamed of somehow? One reason you'll never see a build thread from me, not gonna put down roots and especially where I don't even own my property, another one of those contentious actions I never understand with expats.

BTW I got a good one and my wife listens to me all the time, she knows the score, I've been independent my whole life, we wouldn't be together if she was like many of the overbearing and controlling wives I read about here, that's too western, what's the point? Can get that back home all day long and why I left the states in the first place to find a lovely eastern wife (besides my infatuation for Asian ladies). I can't live passively uninformed with my head planted firmly up my backside like so many I read about here and other places, it'd drive me nuts to be so ignorant and naive about everything ..

A spanner?

Had to fork out £ 15 for a Halfords stubby socket tool set, to repair the wood burning stove in the upstairs bathroom.
Simple, you have to replace the glass cover in the wood burning stove, and every nut is a different size, ( the heat has =so you have to select the correct socket to crack a nut.
Hence happy England, I went to Halfords for one part, that the staff didn't have a clue about, a socket, a reducer socket fitting that I broke on another long time ago job, then I called for back up, My socket Snap On socket set , stored in the back garden shed had been stolen by that Romanian burglar.
