As some will know Luksana and I are heading off for a few years Sailing trip. While this is not everyones cup of tea, it was a shared dream that brought us together. Unfortunately being Thai she has been under constant critique from friends, especially thais, and family about being a nomad with no home etc. etc

The construction forum with all the efforts of you guys has been great at taking the pressure off poor Luksana. It was really getting to her. I suppose it is only right for family to worry about her future, but the attitude of the many who cannot accept that she wants to live as she says"National Geographic" is really crap.

So I just wanted to say not only that I am in awe at what you guys can create, but that her being able to see and understand that we too will be able to build a home in the future has set her mind at peace. I downloaded a program and she can start planning her "pool Villa". So once again thanks for the openness and time you guys have spent printing and photoing your experiences. Cheers guys. Hopefully l will buy you all a beer in the future.

It's great that the world still has people with a genuine spirit of adventure, I am very envious.

go for it mate..don't forget first aid etc..wife went into extensive dehydration after extended seasickness....had to hospitalize her with iv etc .take care hugh!?

... mate has invited me to BVI for a month cruising on his new 60 footer..guess it won't happen for this year atleast.
Just have to settle down with a few blue water cruising books..

Enjoy the trip SIT, may you have gentle winds from somewhere abaft the beam throughout.

I'm glad that the construction threads have been a help to Luksana. There's no rush to settle down, Thailand will still be there when she does return. Only when she decides that she's ready to drop anchor and hang up her oilskins for the last time will it be the time to build a house, the house will only become a home when she knows that she doesn't want to be anywhere else.

For now there's a whole world out there to explore...

Something I always planned but never quite pulled it off., because something always managed to get in the way....so good for you.

My last sail was from Victoria, BC to Anchorage, Alaska.....to deliver my last boat to her new owner just before moving to Thailand.... I sailed single handed as usual....probably sailed right past you......

That was June 2008....

Good luck and have a safe trip you guys. You are lucky Luksana enjoys the ocean. My darling got sea sick on the manly ferry in Sydney, so it's dry land voyages for me!
