Thread: Tile adhesive

I need to purchase a tile adhesive that allows you to tile over a non-porous surface. Does anyone know if it's available in Thailand. A name wouldn't go amiss, thanks.

I use silicon.
I reckon I will have the break them off with a chisel if I ever need to replace them.

assume ceramic/clay tiles?...
regular tile cement powder ..comes in a bag mix with water..easy peezie..no need for high tech expensive latex or ? based product. Glues of any description are frickin messy /hard cleanup and awkward to use..used 'em overseas ..better use what everyone uses here.

Best wet down porous surface and tiles first..gives longer working time till you get the hang of it....the cement goes off rapidly if the water is sucked out by porous surfaces.

I have just tiled over the top of a non porous surface (marble tiles) using Weber ceramic adhesive. You can purchase this adhesive from most hardware stores and there are a few different grades that come in 20kg bags.

If you buy the product from a larger store (ie Home Mart) they carry a mixing tool that you place in a hand drill and it mixes the adhesive perfectly.

Thanks for all replies. Loy Toy that sounds like what I'm after. The surface I need to cover is a painted surface which is too big to scour. I'll pop off and have a look. Cheers.

Nowadays in australia we always tile over tiles. The proper stuff is available in cambodia, its called cement glue in 20kg bags so thailanc will have it too. But silicone works just as well.

If you're tiling over tile, smash up the tiles first.
