Thread: thai building regulations

Do any of you fine people know anything about the thai building regulations as far as boundary walls go.
I have a wall between myself and my neighbor , but it's only about 3 feet high , and I want to put a fence on top of that making it taller by about 1.5 meters.
The plan is to put a picket fence made from con wood.

However , when I was painting red oxide on the steel work my nosy neighbor came out and inquired about what I was up to , as the nosy cow does every time we are doing anything in the yard.

when I told her that I am going to close up the yard she was not happy , but eventually conceded to me raising it by about another 2 1/2 - 3 foot , but not to the 1 1/2 meter that I want to go.

What does the law allow me to do without her permission (as far as putting up a fence).

I live in the bang phli area.

There may be a few building laws within the city limits, but outside, anything goes. Once you have lived in Thailand awhile, you will realize the law means nothing and everything is up for negotiation.

AFAIK, mutual fences are always a negotiation, anywhere.

I presume part of the reason for increasing the height is to stop the nosy neighbour from sticking her head over all the time?
So if you have the room build a completely new fence a foot inside the old one as it is then 100% on your land and nothing to do with her. Grow some plants/vines on it so that if anyone asks it is a trellis not a fence.

The building code outside of a city is there is no codes. Build anything you want as long as it's on your property.

I have a chain linked fence 2mtr high and 40mtr by 60mtr which is the garden , if you let the jungle grow on it it is inpenitarable . No problems here as long as you dont take 1mm of any one elses land .
