    Air-Con Issues

    I bought a new air-con about 18 months ago.

This included a 1 year guarantee on the main unit and a 5 year guarantee on the compressor.

It appears the radiator on the compressor unit is leaking. Does anyone know if the guarantees offered, typically cover the 'whole' compressor unit, or just the actual compressor inside the unit?

I would say that your out of warrenty, as the condensor coil (you refer to it as a radiator) is part of the main unit. The compressor is a seperate entity, and being hermetically sealed is usually quite reliable, hence the 5yr guarentee.

That could be due to vibration causing metal fatigue somwhere on the condensor coil, or just a badly silver soldered joint, this may quite easy to repair. At the worst your going to need a new condensor coil, at best it may be possible to repair or isolate the leak. Make sure whoever repairs the unit carries out a leak test (pressurises with dry Nitrogen), and then draws a vacuum prior to re-gasing the refrigerant circuit with the correct refrigerant and quantity. FYI the air con unit will state the refrigerant type R134a , R407c, etc and the correct charge qty.

^ Most of it is outsourced and shit - you are correct.

If you're persistent, they will sort it with a smile. They understand the fragility of branding.

Usually the garantee is for the entire "sealed system" which covers the compressor, evaparator (inside unit) and the condenser (outside unit) and the refrigerant lines. But, TIT and you should check with the one you bought it from. They tend to shun their responsibilities here. Beware and prepare for a possible fight to get it repaired.

First off you need weapons, guns, knives, some ziplocks for the ones you let survive, now your ready to visit Samsung and explain the problem, during the talks fondling your gun will help them to decide to sort out your problem, good luck.

If anyone has a samsung PC and it breaks under warranty don't take it to the 'service' centre at panthip, you would do better taking it back to a cake shop.
