We've made a small change to the plans. I'm not happy because it'll cost me another shower room and a few more blocks, but it makes more sense as we can utilise 2 more existing posts that I don't need to remove (which also costs money).
So we will move bedroom 1 out by 2m and add an en-suite. This will be our room on the one or two times a year we will stay there. Looks like Mum & Dad will doss in Bedroom 3 and bedroom 2 will have 2 single beds in it for the kids. there will only be AC in bedrooms 1 & 2, as the old folks don't like it.

The dotted line/shaded area is the roof overhang.
Looks nice, and functional. Don't forget to build a nice little sala for drinking a beer or two... :)
If it was me, I'd create a very much larger area to park the car, for safety's sake...
Why? I can park just fine.Quote:

Even Marmite should've got the message by now... :)
One of the benefits of country living is a nice outdoor space (I presume...) to relax and watch nothing happen while drinking a beer and playing your guitar. :)
Cooking, lazing, entertaining, strumming... whatever floats your boat.Quote:

How big are your outdoor plans, any sketchup yet?
I'm not sure what you mean.Quote:

Are you Australian? You reading skills are dreadful.

OK, let me have another crack at it. Small steps I think Betty :)
Marmite, if you were to extend the roof of your alfresco area forwards by about 2 metres then you would be able to use two of the pillars you will otherwise be taking out, and won't have to put a new pillar in on the corner of the al fresco. - i.e. the bits I've added in green below:
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2013/11/3842.jpg
You might need to work out some way of hinging the metal gate, but you could probably do that from a roof beam and a fairly solid hinge at the base of the door attached to the floor/sink a hole into the floor and use that. Alternatively if you are putting the half walls on the side of the al fresco then you might be able to do something to hinge it off that.
All in all you'll probably only need about 7.5m2 more roofing area which should be cheaper than messing about with the existing pillars.
If you wanted to break up the roofline a bit then just extend the al fresco roof by 1.5 metres (i.e. it covers your pickup truck to about the back of the cab level). It would still allow you to use the existing pillars - and would only need about 5.5sqm more roofing material...
Not sure what you have in mind for the al fresco but suggestion. Could save some money on roof design. Simplifies. Dimensions are as per your plan.

But I don't want to add any more pillars. Those new green ones are not on my plans because they're not there.Quote:

Ends up sort kinda like this. :)

Well. That's settled. My suggestion no good. Have to add a column. May not have to move one though.Quote:

The Al Fresco area will have a 4ft wall on the south and east sides with a steel gate on the west side. Above the wall may be wire chain link welded in there or some of those nasty blocks with the big holes in. I prefer the chain link fence idea as it will be airier, but secure.
Oh, another thing is that the 2 southernmost posts are only 2.5m, not 3.0m tall, due to how the old place was going to be done.
Sorry. I did read that but my memory is awful. Plus I like to have a laugh at your expense... :)Quote:

Get yeeself a nice sala, mate. Beer, bbq, book, guitar. Luuuuuuurvelli!
I must admit, I do like Norton's idea and will think upon it some more. We're soon to hear back from the roof guy with our quotes, so I'll get the Midget to talk to him then.
And Betty - if Por wants a Sala, he can build his own one.
Think how happy he'll be, sitting with you in the men's sala drinking a Chang and bbqing that fish you caught... :)
^ I'll be at home playing with the Midget. Por will have to find another drinking buddy.
Some stuff to show your builder. Should give him idea of what you are looking for.
