you will need the invoice if you didn't register online

go to Thonglor iMac Shop, they will take care of it for you, nothing to do

make sure you back up your files this time, don't do the same mistake you did last time. Hopefully you learn from it this time.

    I don't know.
But mine was HD failure and according to the Apple tech, it quite a common problem.
They took mine and returned it within two weeks.

Take your piece of shit to an Apple shit store and let them check the serial number. They will tell you if it's under warranty or not.

is it fair to say that apple macs are poorly built, poorly specs, poor quality, but beautifully marketed computers for clueless idiots (which is 99% of the user population) ?

Whilst I was in the Apple store giving the Apple tech grief, they did recommend to buy PC as a better replacement.

Yeah right. I'm sure someone working in an apple store on commission would recommend you walk out and buy something else....

Too late now but if you used time machine your mac would have been backed up and easily recoverable. I did it when I upgraded my HD size and it works great, something that I always struggled to do on a PC....Also you should download Onyx which cleans up your mac when it starts to get slow It basically does the repair permission thing that you can do via the disk utility but more and much easier. If you google things like "Mac spinning disc" "Onyx" "Mac re" etc you will see. Bummer if you lost things especially photos but like all computers it is not a matter of if, but when they will fail. Use Time Machine and you will have a back up to recover. I still have no idea how to do it on PC's, sorry.

I compromised with a hackingtosh server. Does the job I want a hell of a lot better than anything apple sell.

they do, and with the odd exception you can put any in hd/ssd. you can even replace the dvd drive with a second hard disk. Ive got a small 60G ssd and a 1T hd, and the system fly's

if he doesn't have an external drive, time machine is not going to be very helpful

Having already received commission for the product i was moaning about. The fella sneakily pointed to the outside of the shop and cheekily said "better".

Surprising to see so many people talking trash about Macs. I've had my MacBook for six years and have spent about a total of 45 minutes on problems. Have talked about a dozen people into converting to Macs and all of them are positively effusive about the experience. Not denying some have problems, but for me I would never ever go back to Windows.

By the way, Google SuperDuper for a great way to make bootable back-ups for Macs. I can take my back up drive to any other Mac and boot up with my system and contents just from the drive. Once my Mac finally dies, I can be up immediately on a new machine with the same desktop/apps and files.

Professionally I work with windows and about 6 different flavours of unix. And the one thing I really do not understand is this religious war between the operating systems, particularly when you consider you spend almost all your time using the applications that sit on the operating system and not the OS its self. It's a bit like going to war about who makes the best photocopiers.

    It's really quite simple:

Windows, Linux and Android can do more than OSX and iOS, and PC's are more customisable than Macs.

That's why retards tend to go for Macs: They don't do much, so they don't go wrong very often. You can't do much with them, and if you want to extend them, invariably you have to go and buy more specialised, overpriced Apple shit to do it.

That's why most people that bang on about how good Macs are (and it extends to iPhones) are generally full of shit.

If they had the experience to use something a little more complicated, and thus know how to get more out of it, then they probably would.

As it is, they sit there in their ludicrously overpriced world trying to find excuses why their shiny Apple product is better than the competition - and invariably fail dismally as a result.

And that's why we rip the piss out of them.

Sensible Apple users should just know that they aren't very bright, they have a product that does the few simple things they require, they paid extra because it's shiny, and they should just sit down, open a coke and shut the fuck up.

    Here endeth the lesson.

The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

^^^ the apps rely entirely in the OS these days, apps are not built independent (shared libs vs static libs) of the underlying OS UI like they used to before

the OS manage the UI look and feel, and the robustness of the different layers of subsystems that make the whole user experience

when those layers break down, like they do constantly in the Mac OS or the early Windows version, they alter the user experience and make it impossible to use the computer and their apps

disagree here, they don't do much but believe me, macs can go wrong very badly, and they do quite often

I can fuck you up a Mac OS installation faster than a Win7, it's quite easy actually

Windows is far more robust these days, even with the gayer interface of Win7
