Is True fooking with my connection speed.

Over the last 2 weeks i have had a problem with the connection disconnecting when downloading files. However, if i am downloading a file at around 30kbs the connection is fine. But if the DL speed is 200+kbs the connection is cut and reconnects a few moments later, but the DL speed is reduced to less than 30kbs?

A couple of weeks ago we changed the wireless router thinking that was the problem, but the pattern seems to follow the download speed.

I have just canceled True TV despite the offer of a 50% discount till the end of the year. Still shit at half the price. The internet could be next.

If you're referring to torrents, then yes, your bandwidth is being throttled and there's nothing you can do about it (and it's complete BS)- it shouldn't happen with regular file downloads, though.

Should have an option on your downloader to encrypt the files, this should help get your speeds up.

I had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I called True out royally but when the technician finally came to the appt he found that the "splitter box" on the telephone was broken, he changed it and everything was hunky dory. A week later the whole thing went dead and same tech came back and discovered that it was the condo technican who messed up the connection to my appt on the condo exchange.

True drive me nuts sometimes but of late they have been quite good to me.

Maxnet block some torrent ports (6969 for example), so I had to spend 2 mins getting a proxy to negate it.

Torrent speeds dropped with TOT recently and they admitted to using traffic shaping. The best I could get with utorrent was 10k/s. For a while I used deluge, and checked the "full stream encryption" box, this got past the shaping.

Now things seem almost back to normal, d/l around 220 with utorrent, probably too many complaints/threats of cancellation made TOT do the U-turn - maybe true are trying the same thing.

    Cheers

It's well known that TRUE press the internet bandwidth to limit the use of customers. Complaints regarding bandwidth and connectivity are received regularly.

I'd say that the True guy has been round to my house about 8 times this week trying to sort out my connection. He came close to a perfect job yesterday when he came round to change the router. He managed to get 4mbs running throughout the house but then couldn't find the username and password to change any details in the router set up.

I let him off because at least I was connected and had a big ps3 night planned. He can come round and sort out the password another time.

Klongy, how many websites do you visit that are hosted in Bangkok? I assume none at all.

    No trouble downtown.

Never is in fact. Have never had anything but lightening speeds from True.

But to answer the OP, yes, probably. From what I've heard. You can probably expect a sales pitch to a better package coming soon.

    One every day for sure!

Doesn't seem to make any difference to performance though DD...

How much does that package cost you, Mao? Decent looking speeds you got going there.

surprisingly enough only 300b, done through the condo. Used to be 450 then suddenly dropped to 300 about 6 months ago. Didn't ask any questions.

It's usually a bit faster, about 8mb p/s tested from either the UK or Yankerikkka.

Believe (from people on TD) that it's a 1000b package that the condo divides/splits and rents out at the lower price.

Couldn't be happier with it tbh and never had any problems with it in 2 years. the office guy is a computer techy educated in England and knows what he's doing though.
