Many thanks for your prompt help with this.
I've been working on Missing sync and the results are improving. I shall look at Google Apps and Syncmate tomorrow when I'm feeling fresher.
I'm hesitating with working on phone Contacts because I can't see on the Mac where a sync'd copy would go. Presumably, it would not be merged with the email address book. If you can give me any pointers with that I'd be grateful.
Thanks again.
Huawei Honor: Android phone with three-day battery
By Hannah Bouckley on Monday, 26th September 2011
Huawei has announced a new Android smartphone with a 4-inch screen and three-day battery life
At just 10.9mm deep and weighing 130g it’s powered by a 1.4Ghz processor, the Huawei Honor includes a 4-inch 854x480 pixel screen with 16 million colours.
But the highlight is the battery. Huawei claims it has enough power to last three days, making it the longest in the smartphone with a 4-inch screen category.
Victor Xu from Huawei comments: “Huawei Honor encapsulates the Huawei brand – it features simple-to-use, https://teakdoor.com/images/smilies1/You_Rock_Emoticon.gifadvanced technology that allows people to share and connect easily. Honor provides a package of features that elevates the smartphone user experience, including an ultra-long battery life, so critical to the performance of smartphones but yet is often downplayed.”
Running Android 2.3.5 the interface also include Huawei’s customised skin, which can be customised and includes a weather widget.
Other features include a 5-megapixel primary camera and 2-megapixel front-facing camera, DLNA compatibility data can be for transferred wirelessley between devices, such as a HD TV. There's also a Gyroscope for gaming.
Last week Huawei introduced the entry-level Blaze, the Honor seems to be aimed more at the mid-top end section of the market.
The Huawei Honor will be available in the UK in 2012, although there’s no news of the exact date or pricing yet.
Fujitsu-Toshiba Arrows Z: Waterproof Android phone with a 13-megapixel camera hits Japan

If you were after a phone specifically to take sub-aqua snaps of Godzilla, the Fujitsu-Toshiba’s Arrows Z might be the phone for you.
Coming out in Japan in November, this beast of a phone has huge 13-megapixel camera that features Sony Ericsson’s Exmor R sensor, something which us Brits have seen in the likes of the Xperia Arc, Xperia Neo, Xperia Ray and the forthcoming Xperia Arc S.
What’s more, the phone is waterproof as well, making it a distant mutant cousin of the Xperia Active and Motorola’s Defy+.
Other specs of the Arrows Z include Android 2.3.5, a big 4.3-inch LCD screen with a 720p (1280 x720) resolution, 8GB of storage, 1GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz dual-core chip (Texas Instruments’ OMAP 4430).
There’s HDMI out as well for showing of your huge pictures and 1080p videos on a big screen TV and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera too.
There also appears to be some kind of built-in photo streaming service that's powered by Eye-Fi which automatically backs up your snaps. You'd probably need it; that 8GB of memory would get filled up by 13-megapixel snaps pretty darn quick.
Sadly it looks like this monster will only be available in Japan. We’d love some more of Fujitsu-Toshiba’s underwater creations to land on British shores in the future.
Considering the SII is only just hitting the US market, this is pretty good:

Samsung Galaxy S II is setting new landmarks. From launch on, the Android handset just cruised smoothly and reached 120,000 units sale in the first three days in South Korea.

The latest is that the device has surpassed the 10 million mark in just 5 months in global sales and looks set for more.
Samsung affirms that the Galaxy S II is the fastest selling phone in the company’s history. The handset broke the company’s previous records set by the Star Phone in 6 months and Galaxy S in 7 months to reach the 10 million sales.

The Galaxy S II has achieved some regional sales record also. If you are looking for stats, Korea leads with 3.6 million units sold, just behind Europe with 3.4 million and Asia with 2.3 million. One aspect to note here is that the phone has just started its sales in the US.
We think there is nothing unusual about the huge success of this ultra-thin handset as it comes with smart impressive features like a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 16GB memory, dual cameras: an 8-megapixel rear shooter and 2-megapixel front snapper, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0, HSPA + and much more.
It will be interesting to see how the Apple’s iPhone 5, scheduled for launch in early October, and the Galaxy S II move in the global market thereafter. Where do you think will the pacing Galaxy S II reach from here?
the pink Android looks like your kind of phone harryb, have you tried it yet ?

Android trumps iPhone 2-to-1 in new smartphone sales
Edwin Kee 09/26/2011 21:36 PDT
It seems that the Apple iPhone is no longer the powerhouse that it once was – but make no mistake about it, it is still a formidable force worldwide, but Google’s Android operating system that is behind the plethora of handsets manufactured by HTC, Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson and Motorola have proved to be quite the phone mover as well. In the latest round of statistics compiled by Nielsen, it showed that the iPhone’s market share in the US has eroded, while Google’s Android handsets gained the upper hand.
In August, 28% of those who had picked up a smartphone in the previous 3 months chose an iPhone, which is down form 31% of those who said the same three months prior. As for Android’s share, those rose from 49% in May to 56% in August – this means that for every new iPhone purchase, 2 more Android-powered smartphones were bought elsewhere in the US.
Who’s the biggest loser here? RIM’s Blackberry who saw their share of recent smartphone purchased drop to 9% from 16% in May. Will the sheer number of people on Android’s side crush Apple eventually, leading us back to the days when Windows trumped Mac users?
Apple still owns your ass on total market share,
but at least this time you got the difference between new sales market share and overall market share. Congrats, big boy, soon your balls will drop and you will know how to count to 10
*NER* Wrong again you witless gallic onanist.

Handling the Samsung Nexus Prime
By: Daniel Chubb | September 27, 2011 | 0 Comments
https://teakdoor.com/images/imported/2011/09/3349.jpg
This week we’ve heard a few Samsung Nexus Prime rumors that the sources can be named, although you’ll be lucky to find a lot of official information at this time. We know the Nexus Prime, aka new Google phone, could be the unnamed device being unpacked at CTIA 2011, and also could be the finalist in an award at the same event, although this news is still unconfirmed.
Samsung are being very secretive about this release and playing the Apple close protection game, which has worked well for them over the years, although the user and news writer cannot help but get excited over each rumor that breaks, especially when someone may have a device in their hands.
This is just what this article is claiming, explaining a 4Chan member has the Samsung Nexus Prime in their hands, and have given it a quick review. What makes this story even more interesting is they say a representative from Samsung handed them the Nexus Prime. The main problem with 4Chan is they like to be secretive too, and the users usually hide their identity.
If this story turns out to be more fact than fiction, taking everything with a pinch of salt here, then we must remember that they also state the apparent “Prime” is a beta version, according to the source.
The community user said that the new Google phone they got features a dual core 1.5Ghz processor, 16GB of storage, 1280×720 HD display / Super AMOLED at 4.65-inches. Are you still pretty hyped about the Samsung Nexus Prime, and how sure are you about buying it?
this must have been written by another dumb phack like yourself, again using flows numbers for the last 3 months, not total market share in units already sold and owned by users. Apple is still #1 in that department. Don't make me lookup Apple 10K and other financial reports to own your silly ass with hard facts.Quote:

Yes, Buttplug, which is why they put the two together, fuckwit. Again:Quote:

Face it Buttplug, Android is kicking Apple's cancer-stricken arse, and unless the iPhlop 5 is something special, they're going to continue to do so.
Give me your credit card number and I'll download this to prove it.

In its latest entry to dethrone Apple, Samsung is bringing out the Galaxy Skin, a flexible smartphone.
The new smartphone, which was unveiled at Hongik University in South Korea on June 10 and later at the CES 2011 in Las Vegas, was designed and developed by Professor. Haeseong J. Jee and Hye Yeon You. Hye said the design was still in the conceptual stage.
The ground-breaking feature of the futuristic device is that it is flexible and can take various shapes. The displays are rollable, bendable and can even survive blows from a hammer. It is the first of its kind and is set to mold a new definition for smartphones. Samsung previously confirmed the production of flexible AMOLED displays that may debut in the second quarter of 2012.
The AMOLED flexible display of the device is said to have used a plastic polyimide substrate instead of glass. Previous tests have also shown that plastic polyimide will allow the flexible displays to bend around a cylinder with a 1-inch diameter.
The electrical signals that are sent to the flexible display cause physical deformation which is actually the electrically active polymer core technology.
A biggest bonus for this type of displays is that they use the AMOLED technology that will arrive with low energy consumption and good screen brightness. Samsung has teamed up with a Japanese company, Ube Kosan, that probably will be contributing hugely in production of the AMOLED flexible displays.
The Galaxy Skin specifications, as known currently, show that the device has a 4-inch WVGA SUPER AMOLED (800X480) Flexible type display. The device is also said to feature an 8 MP rear and a VGA Telephony Camera that will sport auto focus, self shot, action shot, Panorama shot, stop motion and Add me features.
There is still doubt about the device's operating system. While some say that it will run the next-generation Jelly Bean (Google's next project after Ice Cream Sandwich), others are of the opinion that the device will feature a new kind of OS called Android Flexy.
Other features include 1.2 GHz processor with a 1 GB RAM. The device is expected to arrive in both 32 and 16 GB. The device size, most probably, is 221x67x8 mm with a 1500 mAh battery along with value added features like integrated messaging "Social Hub," augmented realty with Layar Realty Browser, Android Market, Video messaging, Exchange ActiveSync, SMS, MMS, Email. Connectivity will be provided by Bluetooth version 3.0, USB version 2.0 (high speed), Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
The new core technology, developed for the device, utilizes mouse-featured applications and will allow the device to be used as a full-time mouse. The device, apart from being a smartphone, can be turned into a table clock on or can be worn as a wrist-watch. It can also act as a smart projector when placed on table.
Meanwhile, Apple's iPhone 5 is rumored to be powered by the A5 dual-core processor, used in its iPad 2. A previous report also stated that Taiwan SemiConductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) had already started a trial production of the Apple A6 line of processors that will incorporate the 3D IC technology.
Other rumored features include an 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and an edge-to-edge display. Apple, reportedly, has ordered 90 percent of its 8MP camera sensors from OmniVision. Chances of a 4G LTE-compatible iPhone 5, however, are less.
