What UPS do you have?
how does it connect to the PC?
Did the UPS come with software?
I was going to correct the title of the thread, but I've still got no idea what the hell he's after.
Sounds like its not windows 7 compliant.

I don't know how many versions of windows and linux I have installed in the past but I have never had to do anything with my UPS, just plug the pc into it and it works, never bothered with windows 7 though.
Same with mine.Originally Posted by dirtydog

^ That's my problem, that's where mine isn't ! Agree that with older versions is just a case of plugging in, surprised when it didn't work, nice backward step !

The Meth One's Fuck The Best !!
I now know more about UPS than I ever wanted too!
"Bright" appears to be a TM of IntelliPower, Inc (Military UPS, Industrial UPS, Commercial UPS - On Line Uninterruptible Power Systems) the model I have is not mentioned on their website, they seem to be quite high end, in fact the one I have has no model number at all!
I suspect i have a China copy, although it worked fine with XP will not work with Win 7...........
Do you mean that when you plug your computer into your UPS the computer will not turn on and work??
I had a UPS made in Thailand a few years ago, it has software, but I never installed it and the UPS worked for a couple years and then shit the bed and went tits up.
No, starts up a usual, but when it should work e.g. go to battery power when power fails, nothing happens with it...........
Sounds like a faulty battery to me, it should switch to the inverter when it loses power from grid.
If it is putting out no power it damn sure couldn't get instructions from software to switch it from the PC.
Yup, sounds like dead battery to me as well.
Maybe plug a desk lamp into your ups and then pull the plug on the ups?
Well done and thanks chaps, that indeed is the problem! (hindsight makes me think this would have probably been the next thing I would have checked!)
Needless to say I am both bloody well shocked and disgusted! You would think that Microsoft would at least issue a warning that Windows 7 destroys batteries! but no, they leave it to Joe public, the little man in the street, working every hour God sends to find out himself through trial and error!
The bloody thing worked perfectly under XP for years!
Suing the !astards springs to mind, but I'm pretty dam smart and know it would take years and years before I eventually got a court to find in my favour and award me substantial damages!
How many more lost souls are out there now struggling with the same problem?
Think I will just sleep on it for now - again thanks, your help much appreciated in what have been pretty dam trying times..............
The batteries only normally last for a couple of years.Originally Posted by Airportwo

You had better quit smoking that shit,, it is starting to make your mind act funny with all these ideas.Originally Posted by Airportwo
