Ok, I am pretty new to this, but I have set up a basic (index page) for a website on my main PC.
I used Adobe Go Live, created an index page which I can access from Firefox (I used the IIS via the control panel and Admin tools to enable it.
So far I can log on using my browser, no problem, lets for the sake of things, my LAN address on the pc is 192.168.1.2, I can ping this fine.
So we then get to the router which would be something like 192.168.1.2, again, I can ping this no problem.
The next part is what is confusing me. I have a host set up using No-Ip website, and just for the sake of it, if I ping miggins.no-ip.biz, nothing 100% loss.
I check that the No-Ip address is up dated correctly, i.e. 118.***.***.115, which is correct, it is the same address as in my router and when I ping this it is fine, no packet loss.
If I then go into the cmd prompt and ping the miggins.no-ip.biz address, it is giving me a different IP address, 118.***.***.242 and 100% packet loss, the address is an assigned address I had about 1 hour previously (I have dynamic ip) Any idea what is not getting updated, it seems to be on the local side as the router address matches the no-ip address.
Edited updated info:
OK, I did a cmd ipconfig / renew and now I can ping my dns using the name and that works. Now the strangest thing happens when I type in the address (text address - from the hosting service) into firefox, I get a request for authentication, password and username.
I tried various passwords nothing worked until I entered the TOT log on information the admin details to access the modem, and lo and behold, the TOT DSL modem page came up, with all the settings of the modem, I can refresh the page and move around the pages real time - Here is the funny part - I don't have the TOT modem connected anymore - I am using an all in one Belkin modem wireless router!!!
Then I looked closer, and it's NOT MY MODEM - it is someone elses! Different phone number and everything!! Have I inadvertently hacked into someones site?
I can access every single page on their modem and probably be able to change settings!!! (not that I am going to ) I have their phone number so I may give them a call and suggest they change their password or something.
Actually, their internet is a lot worse connection than mine! 10dB SNR Margin and 62dB attenuation! It's a Chiang Mai number too. How can this happen? I can get in and can disable their firewall and everything else in there!!
