Anyone else using Bit Defender ?

I have installed Bit Defender on our computers and I'm having a problem with the update because TOT international bandwidth is so slow.

The default url for updating is http://upgrade.bitdefender.com/ and there is a second slot to enter a local mirror.
I have googled for an hour and cannot find a single mirror anywhere in the world.
Has any else managed to find a mirror ?

What package do you have? I have found that service providers in Thailand intentionally block access to international connections for the cheaper plans forcing you to upgrade.

They were blocking outbound ports that I needed and I had to upgrade.

TOT ADSL 3meg down 512 up

I get blinding speeds of 2.8 meg on domestic but maybe only 0.04 meg on international
This is why I need a local update mirror
3 hours to do an update is just crazy

It sounds like what I was saying above. You may need to upgrade your package to the next tier.

It's a crap policy they have. They figure if you need to access international websites then you have enough money to buy the more expensive service plans.

I was having tons of problems with dropped connections, timeouts, etc. Even email ports were being blocked for access to the states. I upgraded my plan and haven't had a problem since. The speeds are no faster though, they just take off the throttling, port blocking and limitations for your account.

So where are all these local mirrors that Bit Defender talks about on their website.

TRUE have recently upgraded my line (without me asking). I was on the 2.5Mbps package. Now I seem to be on a 5Mbps one.

Hi! Although I am using 2010, this is what I found on the BD forums, maybe it helps:
In order to Update your BitDefender you may try the following steps:

    1. Open BitDefender and click on the Switch to Advanced View button.
    2. Choose the Update module and click on the tab called Settings.
    3. Under "Confirm update" click on the option called "Prompt before downloading updates " and under "Manual Update Settings " click on the same option "Prompt before downloading updates " .
    4. After you do this click on the button called Apply and then click one more time on the Update tab from the top.
    5. Now click on Update now and you will see that a new window will show up.
    6. You will have to choose only the Signatures updates and then click on Ok.
    7. In that moment BitDefender will download and install only the updates that contains the virus definitions.
