Good question.... I'm not sure there are many benefits of doing this in Linux at the moment, but Frankie will probably know more.Originally Posted by mrsquirrel
Have the dual core working now... I was running a 386 kernel, had to change to the generic kernel, but encountered some problems as I had to manually update the nvidia drivers (seems a bit slack of ubuntu not to update graphics drivers to support their latest kernel)
Things seem to be running much smoother than before.
^ you need to recompile your kernel, will be more efficient with all the drivers etc... very easy to do, takes about 15min to setup all the options
I now have two spare Kingston 512 MB DDR (not DDR2) chips.
All you need now are two goats, two sheep, two elephants, two.... and an Ark and you can be Noah
.....and a spare XFX Geforce 6200 graphics card, an Athlon XP2600 chip that may or may not be broken.
All good stuff if anyone can be bothered to pick it up.
I'll be having a spare one of them soon.Originally Posted by NickA
I'm sure CMN would want the RAM, but I don't plan to be in CM anytime soon. The graphics card is pretty low end, but if anyone is using onboard graphics then it would be a step up
