New laptops, no LAN, connect via usb-c -_-

Got a few trips coming up, want a new lappy.

The new lappies nowadays don't have a LAN port. They prefer to be slim and thin, than offer a LAN port. Like Sophia Loren - 'I'd rather eat lasagna and drink a glass of wine than be a size zero', give me an extra few mm of thickness so I can stick me LAN in her.

    I like a LAN port.

All abodes have fiber optic 1GB connections.

Sure can connect through Wifi, but I'm old fashioned and I know what I like.

Especially if illegally streaming live football or UFC, video calling friends or family, live streaming my gay porn orgies with my Indian rusty-trombone'ing buddies. I want a LAN connection.

Apparently can use an adapter that goes into the usb-C, that has a LAN port on the other end.

Is it a simple plug and play thing? Plug it in and off ya go, or is there other dingle-dangle nonsense that goes along with it?

Does it throttle and lose bandwidth? Plug in a 1gbps fiber optic LAN cable through the usb-c port and get 200mbps of it, or you'll get the full 1GB?

Or get the full 918mbps of it at least?

Tested immediately after with my phone connected to the same router but by WiFi and came up as only 38mbps.

Perhaps laptops have better WiFi receivers than a phone?

Should connecting via a LAN to usb-c adapter give me the full whack, or just a weak slap across the chops?

USB-C has a 10GB transfer speed so I don't see how the LAN could slow it down.

You're invited to our next sesh, Mike.

    Anyone have real life experience?

Of LAN via usb-c adapter and keeping full bandwidth, not live streaming gay Indian rusty-trombone orgies. Cheers.

They work fine, just make sure you buy a decent brand and not some cheap rubbish.

Usb4 , lightning . Tomato tomato 40gigs per sectioned 40 giggles for the sanctioned

Yes snubbles , technically they are not exactly the same , but the penis size is . Or maybe you want to use oculink ?

Eddie , lightning is only on intel CPUs , I bought a second hand dell dock . The usbC plug on the dock also does the power delivery for my 12 inch dell 2 in 1 . So when at my desk I just plug that one lead into it and power it on . It remains closed and the dock has the 2 24 inch screens and kB mouse network etcetc
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

You only need one of these. They're all plug and play.

None of them does but if you intend to connect external USB storage then don't buy the one Harry suggested - it does not have a port for connecting an external power adapter which is needed if your external storage doesn't have one and instead gets its power from the USB port.
The one I suggested has a USB C PD (power delivery) port for connecting to a USB C power adapter when you need extra power for this USB expander.

Then why did you suggest one that also has a built in USB hub?
One that can only deliver power enough on the USB ports for low-power devices like a keyboard or a mouse..

Because it's half the price of the one you suggested and he only said he wants Ethernet.
