Got a few trips coming up, want a new lappy.
The new lappies nowadays don't have a LAN port. They prefer to be slim and thin, than offer a LAN port. Like Sophia Loren - 'I'd rather eat lasagna and drink a glass of wine than be a size zero', give me an extra few mm of thickness so I can stick me LAN in her.
I like a LAN port.
All abodes have fiber optic 1GB connections.
Sure can connect through Wifi, but I'm old fashioned and I know what I like.
Especially if illegally streaming live football or UFC, video calling friends or family, live streaming my gay porn orgies with my Indian rusty-trombone'ing buddies. I want a LAN connection.
Apparently can use an adapter that goes into the usb-C, that has a LAN port on the other end.
Is it a simple plug and play thing? Plug it in and off ya go, or is there other dingle-dangle nonsense that goes along with it?
Does it throttle and lose bandwidth? Plug in a 1gbps fiber optic LAN cable through the usb-c port and get 200mbps of it, or you'll get the full 1GB?
Or get the full 918mbps of it at least?
Tested immediately after with my phone connected to the same router but by WiFi and came up as only 38mbps.
Perhaps laptops have better WiFi receivers than a phone?
Should connecting via a LAN to usb-c adapter give me the full whack, or just a weak slap across the chops?
