Cheers. I didn't install it in the first place, IIRC the PC came from Edith's office around 5-6 years ago.
110% the copy of Win 7 is well bodgy.
Downloading Win 10 from a torrent to USB now.
Nope, nothing like that, never heard of a restore point so it wouldn't have one of those.
Yeah, gonna give it some of that.
Now just a matter of torrenting it and installing it.
Restore points are great and ...
Google "when are restore points created on windows 7"By default, Windows will automatically create system restore point when new software is installed, when new Windows updates installed, and when a driver is installed. Besides, Windows 7 will create a system restore point automatically if no other restore points exist in 7 days.27 Dec 2021
more dust on that heatsink than in in your wallet
a trimmed down 1 inch paintbrush is a good dust remover - so open your wallet and dig in deep to clean all the corners
if the fan is not running and the heat sink is that full of dust then it is very likely why your CPU is telling windows to get fcuked
Some people think it don't, but it be.
Stealing something will always be more fun.
Thank you kindly sir.
Have you tried taking it to a local temple?
Start with the BIOS, because if that isn't compatible you're probably fucked and might as well install Linux.
Is this a proper make/model or a put together PoS?
It's got Acer Veriton on it, so will run with that.
To maintain the system integrity this may help

Thank you kindly sir, shall do.
if the cpu fan is not running it really does not matter that the heatsink is clean - air need to be moving through the heatsink for the heat to be dissipated
^ The CPU fan is always working, and man is it clean!
Instead of getting a whole new setup, would I be correct in guessing that getting a new CPU and SSD (and installing Win 10) would almost defo solve all issues?
The 12gb Ram, graphics card etc etc all seem to be working perfectly, bit of a shame to pickup the whole unit and dump it into the blackhole of our storeroom, never to be seen by human eyes again.
My windows 10 became unstable in Thailand after an update and the machine kept crashing after a few minutes. Following a restart it was stable. Happened every morning and hacked me off and I thought it was because I didn't have a stable Internet connection.
Anyway, back in Germany, stable Internet and upgraded to Windows 11 making everything stable again...until another update caused it to go unstable and crash after 15-20 minutes every time. I traced this to the hp hotkey uwp service gobbling up my cpu and ram on a runaway mission to destruction. Win11 doesn't make access to services as easy as previous windows, you need to know which file to run but switching it to delayed start fixed the problem. Checking my device, the service doesn't appear to be used any longer so I disabled it. Everything fine now.
Windows really does get me angry but I'm not paying inflated prices for a mac pro. My problem looks to be specific to hp zbooks.
^ Without wanting to go off topic, switching to Chiangmai-Linux-Noon might be an option.
For me personally I'm far too old to be learning new tricks like that.
^ I have another laptop running Linux and several other os as virtual machines. It is 10 years old and has run without any major problems. The problem is I can't run my nikon app on Linux, only Windows or apple. I use the nikon app to make in camera settings to raw files.
