Have not been too worried about viruses and the like on my house full of Macs until a few days ago. My new MacBook Air starting having issues with browsers crashing every few minutes, something that has been quite rare in the Mac experience. At any rate, it looks like the Exciting Central malware was able to embed itself and the free application Malware Bytes that I have been using could not remove it. Broke down and bought the Intego package. Took care of the major problem quickly but now I am quite shocked to see the dozens of other infected files it is finding on my machines and back up drives. It has been working for 3 days and every few hours finds and removes another one, usually an adware type. I guess the Apple honeymoon is over. Next step is to start plugging in my USB drives to see how dirty they are.
