    Uncle Xi now knowing her Om-Sin Kiddy-Save bank account details is a good excuse to stop topping it up every month, if anything.

    And Backspin is a prime example of why that damage is so concerning.

    I have friends/ colleagues who have school-age kids. Most of them monitor their kids' online activities. Some don't, due to general busy-ness and the phone/ computer/ TV becomes the babysitter. It's up to them. (my opinion - screen time use should be monitored, esp if very young)

    There's also the danger of child predators/ pedophiles/ grooming on these sites (FB, Tiktok, etc).

    The U.S. is investigating TikTok for being a haven for child predators

    There are also health issues (physical, emotional, mental, developmental) regarding too much use of mobile phones or computers.

    Health Risks of Using Mobile Phones

    +++++

    I think David48's way of letting his kids have more physical activities/ sports is a good thing, especially nowadays that kids are exposed to so much internet/ social media.

    There has been lots of research indicating that the Internet is changing the way we use our brains (obviously this doesn't apply to skidmark, sabang or hoohoo).

    Previously the brain would "save" information in long term storage for use in critical thinking and analysis. The tendency to rely on the internet for information has reduced the amount of information the brain stores, thus affecting that process.

    My year was the last year before calculators were allowed into maths exams. You can see in Thailand how that has worked out.

    Social media has its own drawbacks, probably the worst being that - unless you control it - your kids are getting behavioural learning from their ( mostly unfettered) peers rather than adults.

    I am by no means saying that technology is bad, but there are certain aspects of it that can have a negative impact on human development if not managed properly.
    The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

    That probably adds weight and depth to Willy’s comment.
