    Pray for Eddy's Computer.

Woke up this morning to troll some vegans on a vegan forum, and Ol' Trusty our faithful PC of unknown make was as dead as a dodo.

Switched power cables with a computer I use to argue with meself on said vegan forum, still as dead as dill's old account.

Giving it a bit of a shake, there is a rattle in the power supply box thing.

Gonna have to risk a computer shop run.

    1. Don't want them getting into and fleecing me Exodus crypto wallet that contains about 27 baht of Decred (thanks for that Baldy)

    2. Definitely don't want them seeing our internet search from 12:30am last night.

    3. Would rather not have them go through our folders of religious photos and videos.

ATX-580w, according to the sticker on it. 250-370 baht online. Rather not wait 3 days, plus it might be something else. Can computers catch Covid?

The RAM slots are full, don't think there's anything else that could be upgraded while there.

    Pray for the power box.

If I get an SSD do I lose everything that was on the computer?

Can they clone everything from my HD to a new SSD? Without them looking?

Same thing has happened to my phone. Spoke to a buddy in the states while jogging. Picked it up to check a basketball score and its deader than a doornail. Tried the volume and power off trick and nada.

I guess it all depends on how much you trust the shop.

I had a screen/display problem with my 6 years old iMac a few months ago. Took it to a farang Mac specialist here in Phuket and spoke to him about upgrading the RAM whilst it was in the shop. He recommended changing the hard drive to SSD, which I agreed to. What a difference its made, just made me realise how slow the old HD was. Would definitely recommend changing. From recollection, the new 1 TB SSD was about 8,000 baht.

Oh, he transferred everything to the new drive, and gave me back the old one when I picked it up.

Yes unless the technician suffers from intellectual disability

You don't know for sure if they peek unless you hang over their shoulders but most PC Technician has so much to do that they don't have time to peek at users file.

    Praise the lord.

Will give the power supply issue a go first, then do the SSD after I have time to, err, clean up and prepare files and folders for transfer.

Might even have time to stop off in the garden center if they're fast, to pump the excitement factor of this thread up to Syb visits Japan's 2 page threadathon.

Get a computer geek/tech to come to your home and check it out, sit beside him and he won't be opening folders or downloading files marked Religious or Crypto to his thumb-drive.

I think he's more worried about being outed as being every second login on here.

    Emergency info needed.

The Dodo one's output is listed as 580w.

A local shop said they have one that is 550w.

Could be an issue or not? How big a diff is 30w when powering 4k religious mpegs and managing a number of gofundme pages?

Never a good idea to use lower or higher wattage than manufacturer's recommendation.

You'll fuck something somewhere along the line.

iirc it was lots of different bits and pieces shoved together in a case, with a bodgy Windows and lots of cool 1080p games preinstalled, by somebody I don't know using terminology I didn't understood, but nodded along with all the same. :/

If they fix PC's everyday they are not interested in History. They've seen all that before. Unless the tech, is a vegan or you are into Ladyboys.

Just tell them not to look at the content. That way you are sure they won't.

Jut out of interest, do people really have large folders of "religious" materials on their computers nowadays?

Indonesians store jilboobs. (a play on the words jilbab or headscarf and boobs)

Jilboobs Twitter seems to be X rated.

That was in PC World in Bristol... the start of Gary Glitter's problems.

He lived in Wedmore in Somerset at the time and used to drink in The Lamb Inn, Axbridge. Someone pointed him out to me one time... I wouldn't have known it was him as he was as bald as a coot without the wig.
