Presumably that was all a part of the golden age of td that veteran posters recall wistfully.

Funny how so much of it seems to have actually been utter garbage.

Those good parts must have been really, really good.

Went to Canada very often as a child in Elementary school on holidays with my parents when we lived in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. I remember going camping on Prince Edward Island.
Then later I had a close friend who lived in Ontario while I was at Northwestern in Chicago.

Now I work with a company in Quebec City.

Last time I was in Vancouver was about ten years ago. Quebec about three and supposed to have gone last years and this year . . .

I liked it, liked it a lot - which is why I don't understand your utter dislike of the place, your inability to see the good and the effective leadership (especially compared to your southern neighbour)

Vancouver city is alright. Cities in north America are ok. It's the suburbs that are agonizing

You've been around PH. I agree with you about Vancouver. It has a lot to offer. Terrifically multi-cultural city. Seventh largest Chinatown in the world. Largest Sikh community outside the Punjab. Some world class restaurants as well.

I myself have been around, from Central America right up to an area equidistant between Bhutan and China in northern Sikkam State, India. I've been to some very bright and some very dark places. It would be interesting to know where forum members have travelled. There is that saying which goes somewhat like, you don't really know the measure of the man until you've enquired as to where he has travelled. It would be interesting to know where various forum members have travelled. Maybe there exists such a thread? If not, a decent idea? I wouldnt mind managing such an endeavor?

In any case, Vancouver, a great place to visit and live. The downside is that the city is considered in the top five cities in the world to buy and live in.

I don't remember seeing you around in the golden era. Maybe you had a different avatar or some shit. Or has it been skinny Elvis the whole time. ..

That's a good list. Where haven't you been where you would most desire to go?

I haven't been on Seymour St. for ages. I did enjoy mutually and gently a few sweet ladies in that part of town over the years. The memories are delicious. Those ladies are for a particular clientele. You'll not get a modest ,nothing fancy, hotel room anywhere close to down there now for less than four hundred dollars. Wasn't it on Seymour where Cheech or Chong or both had a nightclub?

    Thanks for sharing.

That was MLK, and it was not about travel.

    Maybe KW, maybe.

I hadn't associated the comment with MLK. I've run across the comment various times in my reading and had always associated it with actual physical travel. I do like the MLK comment in any case and will place it in storage.

Around 2003. Every building in Sarajevo that I seen still had war damage. Every building had machine gun marks or shell marks. We were the only ones in the train station. It really blew my mind how much scars from war there still was.

I want to check out Moscow Russia. What about yourself ?

There are many places ahead of Moscow on my list. Just a few off the top of my head.

    London
    Newcastle (family historic background)
    Buenos Aires
    Cape Town
    Karnataka
    Kyoto
    Tehran
    Beirut
    Cairo
    Nairobi
    Doha
    Marseilles
Paris. (Paris, Texas I've already been)

I like to think positively but recent medical issues may prevent me from seeing any of these, a real bummer. Places south of the border will likely be my most realistic destinations..
