    Windows 7 out of support

Windows 7 support ended on January 14, 2020

Anyone using Windows 7 probably knows this already. I just got a nice blue screen informing me.

"The specific end of support day for Windows 7 was January 14, 2020. Technical assistance and software updates from Windows Update that help protect your PC are no longer available for the product. Microsoft strongly recommends that you move to Windows 10 to avoid a situation where you need service or support that is no longer available."

So Windows 7 now goes the same way as XP and others before it. I might upgrade to Windows 8 if I can.

Run bodgy versions on Win7 Ultimate on 3 of my PCs.

No warnings or blue screen yet.

Win 10 is almost as diabolical as Win 8.

    Fuck that shit.

I've used someone else's computer with Windows 8 (8.1 maybe). It seemed OK to me. I didn't notice any real difference to Windows 7.

Win 8 was designed to look and act like a tablet OS, it was around the time that Touchscreen Monitors came out.

Took about a year for them to realise no one sitting at a computer wants to be reaching to the monitor and using it like a tablet.

Have Win 10 on a Laptop. Actually took it to a place to try to have Win 7 put on it, but nobody had it. Oh well. It doesn't get used Minty, I mean much, anyway.

Windows 8 was when they did away with the start button and made it tablet compatible and brought in tiles which seemed to perplex some simpletons

I didn't like Win 8 and stayed with 7. Now I use Win 10 and I'm okay with it as I'm computer illiterate. Must be a right pussy if you don't like 10.

Of course the computer shops have it, the problem is that there are no drivers in Win7 for newish hardware.
My now 2 years old laptop will never be able to run Win7 because its Intel chipset version is not supported in Win7.

    Yeah.
    Slow burn.
Microsoft has been systematically eliminating everything forcing all to Win 10, which still has a reputation in many circles as sucky-sucky.
Universal installation within PCs, notebooks, laptops, etc has become mind altering -

An alternative would be not to do business with anything associated Microsoft.
Alternative OSs, browsers, etc can be an option - as most are compatible/configured with most everything today.

Win 10 is ok, usable, not good but ok by MS standards.

Of course there is a proper solution

Again asking when nobody understood my question : a support, what for?
The W7 have asked me many times to update for "very important security issues". When checking what it was, thanks, but no thanks, please do not disturb...

Windows might not be providing technical assistance or software updates for Windows 7 but they are still providing security updates. I've just finished downloading three updates and a fourth is downloading as I type.

Let me guess, they wont do any new security updates for Win7 after Jan 14 but the last ones (and those before) will still be available for download for some time in the future.
