^ Possibly. I just checked those three updates and they are all dated as being released on 14 January (although I was only notified today).

If you're still using Windows 7, you're fucked.

    It's already wide open.

No they are not. Patch Tuesday was 14th Jan.

Windows 7 Support ended on the 15th Jan.

That's your lot basically, unless you buy ESU.

In the end, one can live with Win 10 if you play around with the system a little bit - modifying for needs and comfort.
Such as: can I set up Microsoft Edge to appear configured like an IE 9 browser [which is still quite useful] yet not akin to a Chrome browser.

And yet still, today there aren't too many alternative OS options that aren't considered dodgy or have compatibility/configuration issues.
    Perhaps Ubuntu?

Fuck Bill Gates and his kind.

I disable most MS programs and install the alternatives I like. I've don't use a MS browser, mail program, file explorer, or Office product.

I alternate between Win10 and 4 different linux flavors which I can select in my boot menu.
Ubuntu is one of them and is the one I'd recommend for a linux newbie.

IE is a piece of shit and Microsoft have been telling people to stop using it for years.

Edge is being replaced with the new Chromium-based browser which will accept Chrome extensions.

But if you want a shitty OS with few apps, I did see this suggestion yesterday:

CloudReady Home Edition Free Download — Neverware

Ideal for people like you that probably only use email and browsing.

I guess you then understand the difference between patching security holes in the operating system vs updating a firewall program which is also used in Win8 and Win10.

Those defender updates won't help you if you use IE to vist a site that exploits ADV200001

They won't prohibit you from receiving updates but they will not do any work on updates explicitly for Win7.

So your basic operating system will not receive updates after Jan 15 but you might get an update for a program which is still used in later Win versions and Microsoft Defender is such program.

I miss Win 7. I just liked the feel of it.
But, like others have mentioned, most modern hardware runs Win 10, so that's what's installed

What exactly do you miss about it?

The way it used to cook your Sunday dinner or wash your clothes or swallow your manjam?

I can turn on bluetooth, put it in tablet mode for use on touchscreen devices or switch on the vpn, wifi, or hotspot or project my screen to my tv or multiple displays or connect to my wireless headphones and the various other functions on there(which will be above the paygrade of some tarmactarded half Mick who needs help topping up his cars coolant) in one click.

The search function has been greatly improved too.

    What is not to like?
