    My Gmail doppelganger.

I've been using the same gmail address for about 12 or 15 years. My address is, unimaginably enough, the initials of my first and middle names followed by my surname. Something like (but not) this:

    aenewman@gmail.com

Recently I started receiving strange emails. Like "Your Walmart order delivery will arrive this afternoon between ....." Or "Thank you for signing up for our JESUS LOVES YOU Seminar" etc etc.
A couple of these strange emails refer to this email address:

    Aenewman@gmail.com

A quick google told me that gmail addresses don't recognize upper case or lower case letters but obviously the algorithm that checks to see if an address is available does!

    SO, here are my questions:

Does she receive my emails the same way I receive hers?

If I mark her emails as Spam will they be blocked for both of us? (she seems to be looking for a job at the moment so I don't really want to do this).

Is there some email address at Google that someone will actually read and respond to so that I can ask them to straighten out this problem?

phishing - just do not let them realise it is a live address

use the buttons to report it as spam and let the googleplex do the rest

you're right...gmail addresses are not case sensitive.....so aenewman is the same address as Aenewman...it''s just spam/phishing

I have this problem as well. I use firstname.surname, and quite often get emails to firstnamesurname.

I did send feedback requesting it to be sorted. No response or change. Fortunately i do not use gmail for much, and apparently neither does my doppleganger.

I once got this very personal email on my GMail account that was clearly intended for someone else.

I simply replied to the sender and told them they had mistyped the address and that I had deleted the offending email.

They never replied, but they must have been fucking mortified.

But in this case, it's just shite and baldrick is correct. Mark it as junk and delete it.

Gmail ignores any period in an email address.
TizMe@gmaill.com , Tiz.Me@gmaill.com & T.i.z.M.e@gmaill.com will all be delivered to the same mailbox.
