Delete, disable or uninstall the one you're using and search for a free alternative.

If CCC is using Chrome then use 'Browsec'. It's free and good.

Just make sure you are aware that you're probably being spied on.

We investigated the top free VPN (Virtual Private Network) apps in Apple's App Store and Google Play and found that over half are run by highly secretive companies with Chinese ownership. Very few of these hugely popular apps, which have hundreds of millions of installs worldwide, do anywhere enough to deserve the trust of consumers looking to protect their privacy.

Windscribe seems to work OK, and it's free, but has a limit of 10 Gb / month, so I only use it when necessary. I just turn it on and off via a desktop icon.

What's your opinion about the permissions on your computer Windscribe requires?
You must be crazy if you allow it to:

Access your data for all websites (ouch!!)

Get data from the clipboard (ouch!!) (ouch!!)

Input data to the clipboard (ouch!!)(ouch!!)(ouch!!)

Monitor extension usage and manage themes

    Display notifications to you

Read and modify privacy settings (ouch!!)(ouch!!)(ouch!!)(ouch!!)(ouch!!)

    Control browser proxy settings

    Access browser tabs

    Access browser activity during navigation

There is a free version of Tunnel bear:

    https://www.tunnelbear.com/

Simple to use. There is a fairly small data limit. In the end I took out the paid version - was not expensive and I can install on (I think) 5 platforms, which is more than enough for me.

Why the ouch? If you use a VPN, all of your data will pass through that VPN so the VPN needs "access" to it.
If you use a browser based VPN (browser extension for your VPN), it will need access to most of the above. (Not sure why they'd need access to your themes, though).

Are you trying to prove that you are more inept than Buttplug?

No they don't need access to it. They just need to deliver it.

How can the deliver it if they don't have access to it?

It should be encrypted at your end, they deliver it, and then decrypted at the other end.

They should not be accessing your data. If they are, there isn't a whole fucking lot of point calling it a Virtual PRIVATE Network.

Really makes no diff whether a VPN or ISP. If they want to, they can track all links you access. Just a price we pay for instant access.

Track all links is quite different from having direct access to your data (while it still is in plaintext form) through their app.
When I enter my banks user/pwd by copy/paste individual letters one by one from a random textfile then I don't want the VPN provider to be able to intercept that. Once filled into the form it will be sent encrypted (https) to the bank and I don't care then if the ISP or VPN provider can see it.

I wouldn't recommend going for a free VPN as they do keep your logs meaning they keep track of all your activity on the internet and as long as the right price is paid, they will sell your data without any hesitation. Why not spent some money and get a paid VPN. There are some Christmas deals on offer which I believe OP must avail. See if this blog helps you
