If you're using any of these passwords, stop!

Passwords are a pain to remember. This leads many of us to use the same short, memorable words or numbers across multiple apps and websites.
However, those decisions may come back to bite us if any of those apps or websites suffer a security breach.

To combat this, many security experts recommend use of a password manager such as 1Password or LastPass.
Password managers make it easy to use longer, more secure passwords which are unique to each site you use.

HaveIBeenPwned.com maintains a database of around half a billion passwords that have been exposed in high profile data breaches
from companies such as Adobe, LinkedIn and MySpace.

Here is the wall of shame. If your passwords are on it, you should probably change them. Like, right now.

How very odd. A combination of those numbers forms the numeric part of my password, and access to one of my bank accounts.

I use 123456 for junk sites like sudoku and chess that anyone's welcome to hijack, and 123456789 if they need 8 characters or 123456798 when paranoia strikes. For more serious stuff it gets a bit involved.
