linux comes with Office Libre. Pretty much the same as MS office. Will even ask if you want a doc saved in MS word form and it's free.

    Download: http://download.cnet.com/LibreOffice...-75337651.html

cheap and do the work, no need latest version for 99.99% of users

If you're skint, Libra Office or Open Office will do but MS Word beats them hands down.

Make sure any alternatives are compatible, as I'm guessing you've the forced upon Win10....[that all contemporary notebooks/laptops buy into]

You're first item of importance would be to dump 10 and replace your OS with a more reasonable system - and then go from there.

Unless you are doing heavily formatted documents or complex spreadsheets, and sharing them with people, free alternatives are fine.

I've just noticed where that link goes, so obviously even old biddies can use them.

    Fuck off Jeff.

Agreeing with Nev ... I also use Open Office, but, if given a choice, I'd use Microsoft Office.
