One Drive, what cloud to choose...

One drive is definitely not the choice i want as a cloud storage. But it pops open each time i start pc on Win10, have to wait it loads and then close it.

I wonder if they store some of my content even i not agree go with them. I guess a geeky can easily watch into the beast if data moves to the Gates Empire.

I took MEGA as Cloud of choice, but 50GB is quickly used with the amount of pics i collect over the years. It is now stopped as i not yet agreed paying monthly fee...

I guess we will all slowly be forcefully driven into the use of Cloud storage, so what is your choice in current market ?

Google announced their work on operating system, may be once this is out, it will make sense to choose that supplier, they do a good job so far by making all devices aware of personal data without subscribing to their cloud.
Monday,Tuesday, then it goes WTF !

Doesn't matter which one you pick. The important thing is that you encrypt anything before you store it there.

And make sure automatic syncing is turned off, a lot of these things will try and chuck your photos and shit on it by default.

Personally I hate them, I use Drobos for everything.

    OneDrive:

What you get for free: 5GB (though you'll still get 15GB if you opted to retain it before Sun 31 Jan). Students get 1TB of storage free.

Surely all Cloud stuff is encrypted if the protocols are followed?

Jennifer Lawrence's spunk shots weren't, as I recall.

Err, no, 'Arry, I haven't it. Those mince pies of yours are letting you down again.

Have another go. The point is, if one follows the protocols all stuff deposited in the Cloud is encrypted. True or false? Lawrence, as I recall from Apple, failed to follow their protocols when she stored the photos of her and Boult.

So, the question remains: are all Clouds secure if the protocols are followed?

of course not - you bean brained turd collector

unless you encrypt your data before it leaves your ithingy , then your sausage insertion photos will be laughed at by NSA contractors

is is not a protocol , it is best practice - aka common sense

many of these companies want your data unencrypted - they will just encrypt the connection to the remote storage - as they want to scan your data and then determine what your interests are so as to better target you with advertising
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

If you are dumb enough to trust someone else, go ahead and follow their protocols.

So, what you are saying is that, say, Apple, and GCHQ/NSA, can view everything in one's Cloud account without one knowing and without one's express permission.
Yet you then say one's connection to the storage facility is encrypted. Are you saying the encryption, unique presumably to one's account, can be circumvented by, say, Apple who will then be able to view all one's data, so stored?
Please be specific rather than adding your own editorialised agitprop spiel.

It is easy to intercept and view HTTPS traffic.

So you encrypt stuff on your own PC with your own encryption standards and long and complex password.

    Then upload it.

So even if they can see it, that can do fuck all with it.

the connection encryption is to stop anyone seeing your data in transit - but if it is encrypted first , the point is moot except for the password to access the encrypted data - with that password they could just delete your files which would render your backup useless , encrypted or not.

and if your computer itself has been compromised ..........
