If I can get into the command prompt with a usb windows recovery tool, couldn't I just use bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot to create a new MBR?Originally Posted by baldrick

sure , worth a try if you want to - I have successfully done it before and also unsuccessfully done it many times - many tutorials online to hold your hand through it , though if you can read and type it is pretty straightforward - that is how I learn about this snotOriginally Posted by pseudolus
it does not sound like it is a hybrid drive , but a machine with 32 gig flash and the 500gig spinner
you may not notice that much imprvement with a 850evo , but if you have to replace a drive there is minimal reason not to go with a full SSD - if there is a problem with the soldered flash you can always ignore it
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
To be fair if it comes down to paying a couple hundred euro for a new HDD, I will simply bin it and buy a new one. Well, not bin it, but give it to a local college or something minus HDD.
I've done the ISO stuff in the past though so can do that no problem. Lets see.
Cheers for your help though.
