    A filipino computer shop

Just a little story from my last visit to the Philippines. I brought with me a small laptop my daughter sent to my young niece in the Philippines. I gave it to a computer shop to install an english language version of WIN 7. I asked them to install a german keyboard driver as the keyboard layout is german.

They told me, sorry cannot do that. We just transfer an image and that has the US keyboard layout. No problem I told them, I can switch to german layout when I get it back.

Seems they took that as a challenge. They not only installed a german keyboard driver. They installed a little application that allows for switching between german and US keyboard by mouseclick just in case my niece wants to attach a big external keyboard. Very satisfactory.

    That's nice.

But I don't believe it was really that difficult to do.

Lots of computer talent here. It's a big draw as it's a job that can get you employed abroad if you're good.

No, it wasn't hard I am sure. Though that feature of easy switching was nice. I didn't know it exists. However they told me it's not part of their service and then decided to do it anyway. I really appreciated that.

Switching keyboard language is Windows 7 is easy. You can add as many languages as you wish and change at will. I have it on my task bar. I'm sure it is a standard feature in Windows 7.

This link explains how to do it.

Add keyboard languages to XP, Vista, and Windows 7
