HP Pavillion dv6 doing strange things . ?????

I've had this lap Top since 2011, It's been a bloody beauty. Never had a virus nor has it ever stopped working, just keeps on keeping on.

So the other day I decided to uninstall the " Micro Soft Office ", that it came with. I never use it so decided to off it.

The first thing I noticed was that when I tried to do a particular download I could not. No big deal Did not need it anyway.

Next thing I notice is that all of a sudden something has happened and now my search engine is " Bing." No drama everything works on that.

This morning I turn it on and everything has changed on the screen.

It has seemed to have reset itself back to default factory settings and wants me to start using Internet Explorer.

So I start checking out whats going down, I have lost every program I have installed on my putor, all my documents and all my photos. Everything, The Computers clean.

So the first thing I have done is reinstalled Mozzilla Firefox. No probs there, putors working fine.

    I go into " My Computer ".

    It tells me that on my " C drive " I have 444 GB's with 264 GB's available.

    On my " Recovery C " I have 21 Gig with 3 Gig available.

So I figure all my stuff is hiding somewhere on my putor but I have no idea where it could be. ?

Have I lost all my shit or is it in there somewhere. ?

    Thanks.

Almost certainly is there somewhere. Hopefully a more knowledgeable person will help you find it all.

sounds like you have rolled it right back - you may be able to roll it forward again

backing up means all your photos and docs are on 2 separate devices

I have the same machine. You have 'HP Support Assistant' installed. So why don't you just contact them? They're 24/7 operating.

I've just got home and fired up my Putor again, low and behold it started up normally and all my stuff has reappeared.

I knew it was nothing to worry about.

Actually the only thing on this machine that would make me cry if I lost them are my many thousands of Photos.

No problem though, I have them all backed up on two separate Hard drives.
