    Headphone jacks

I'm looking for some TRS replacement headphone jacks. Does anyone know where I can get some here in Thailand? I want to repair some headphones that I have and pretty sure it's the 3.5 mm jack that is the problem.

    Thanks for any help.

I guess no one here has had that kind of problem before. How much do you guys pay for headphones that never break? What kind of headphones can I buy that don't develop this kind of problem?

Thanks again if anyone can help.

I just buy cheap earphones and replace them when they stop working. I haven't bought good headphones for many years.

If you go to " FortuneTown ", MRT out to Rama 9 there are many Hi-End audio shops within.

I'm sure they will sort your problem out.

I bought some Denon for 1500 baht that sounded great and worked for 3 years (probably do still work, don't use them since I got new ones). Then I bought some Shure for 5000 baht which work great 3 years later.

Aren't headphones just like laptops nowadays; get something that you like, don't spend too much, and throw it away after 3 years? The Shure headphones are replaceable pasts, so you can get a new 'part' no matter which bit breaks - but the replacement parts aren't cheap either.

How serious are you for sound? What you gonna use them for? What style of headphones do you want?

I paid $100 for some waterproof wireless ones to wear at the gym - utter shite, keep falling out... I got given a pair at a pub about a month ago, Heineken headphones - good quality, wife loves 'em - freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

The moral of this story is: go to the pub and drink more if you wanna get some decent sounding free headphones...

It's my daughter that keeps going through them because she grabs the wire instead of the plug itself. She lies and tells me NO, but I know it's not true. I've got other ones but they're heavy to wear.

It's an easy fix to repair them, just need the plugs to repair them.

I've been to Banana IT and all the shops around them but they don't have them. Saw a video on You Tube and the fix is only about 1 dollar US for the part.

Thanks for the help and Terry, I'll check out that place you suggested.

Hi Betty, wish I could get those Heineken ones, I have a Heineken cooler I got years ago in a promotion, great cooler. I think they spend more money on the stuff they give away.

    Thanks again.

You may find it more economic to wax or even more radically replace your audio flaps. There's a chap in Essex Market shouting Have at look at this ear every morning, I ignore him as his brother is always responding look athe par on that.

David, I looked at that site you posted and NONE of them came under $2 on any of them. Supposedly you can buy them at Radio Shack for less than a dollar but they're not here or any other shop like them I've found.

I'm happy that I did this repair as it saved me over a thousand baht and now the headphones are not only working but have better connectors to work with.

Buy earphones with an L shaped plug. The straight plugs all break quickly. I got sick of buying new ones constantly and forked out $50 on Ebay for some top rated AKGs. They normally go for >$100, fold up, sound great, and are quite sturdy. The plug and wire sucked though, especially for a higher end product. I had to pay another $10 to upgrade to a thick off-market cord with a big plug.
