    SIM card registration??

    SIM card registration??
I have a DTAC SIM card in my old Nokia phone which I use solely as a modem via Nokia PC Suite for GPRS internet. The card came with a modem I purchased about 10 years ago which I no longer use.
Wife told me that she answered a call from DTAC yesterday on said phone warning that the SIM card must be registered or they will cut it off.
She has had to register her AIS card after as similar call; I have never been asked by AIS to register my phone’s AIS card.
Heard it has been a security requirement for quite some time… more than that…who knows?
Won’t bother with registration. Will just buy another card if they cut it off and just maybe I will get decent 3G data rates?

Yeah, but you will need to register the new SIM.

They have and will clamp down on this one. Unregistered SIMS will be cut off.

(the "logic" on this one is that southern terrorists were using telephones to set off bombs).

(and yes, "logic" is in inverted commas for a reason).

You need to show ID to buy a SIM card now, which is when they will register it.

If you don't register the card you have you will be cut off on July 31st, I think

    Yes,
i too believe the magic date is July 31st but this being Thailand it might take a while linger to implement.
It is irrelevant which provider you use.

My wife and I both use DTAC. We went to the local DTAC shop a month or so ago and registered and received a notification sms soon after.
A couple of weeks later we were contacted by DTAC asking us to do it again as something had gone wrong.

I can't see any confusion happening here after the deadline
