Mini-SD card issue - help please

Another tech-gimp question for the esteemed panel..

    Along with my S5 I bought a 32G mini-SD card.

Up until today (had it three weeks) it was happily storing pics, now I'm just seeing 'no image' when I go to the Gallery to review pics.

What's the deal - dodgy SD card? It's a Kingston.

    Your input would be appreciated.

    Ta!

Navigate to the actual images on the sd card. See if the sd card is actually working and still has the pics on it.

Micro-SD card. Is your S5 16GB or 32GB? Depending on how much storage you need, I'd suggest storing everything on the phone itself (Samsung uses a massive amount of the memory on their interpretation of Android, so always good to get 32GB Samsung if available).

I had a Scandisk Micro-SD that fuked up after a year or so, thus now I just put everything on the phone memory (much faster and better if you have enough...). Also, I use the Google Photos app, so everything stores on the cloud - not a problem if the micro-SD card fuks up... I used to be pro the micro-SD card, but since having various problems, I reckon the way IApple/HTC One and some other phones go with more onboard storage and no micr-SD reader is the way to go; as said, especially true with all the cloud storage (but I have unlimited wifi, so uploading is not an issue - it would be if you were only using 3G/4G or had slow/shite wifi).

Settings/storage/pics&videos will let you know what's there. Also, do you have your Samsung PC sw to check the photos?

I have given Micro SD cards the arse completely and now only use SD cards themselves.

In January this year I lost the vast majority of my Calcutta pics to a faulty Micro SD card.

I've banned the fuckers ever since.

    It's a 16G S5 with a 32G Micro SD card.

I'm guessing it's a dodgy card, will take it back to the shop in MBK and try my luck getting a swop, when I get back to Bangers in a week.

Wonder if the ladyboss of the shop will do it - I did buy the phone, etc from her.

I have a 16G card I can put in. Will figure out the issue, sooner or later..

Have you tried taking it out of the phone and looking at it with a card reader?

My advice for what its worth , would be to buy a micro / sd card adapter to give you the standard size sd card shape , then download what pics / videos you want to keep .

Can I ask , did you format the card first in the device you are recording with ?

Then I would delete / re format the card in the unit you intend to take the pictures / videos on .

I have managed to bring back to life cards like this before ,, its no use formatting them on your pc , use your devices software menu to format it.

    Good luck with it

I transferred the (corrupted) pics to my laptop via USB cable (as I don't have a micro-card available where I'm at for another few days.

The files show up on my laptop, in differing sizes, but only want to open in Chrome. When attempting to open they don't!

I formatted the card, and will tentatively take some random shots this morning to see if they save and store correctly on the micro-card.

If not I will try the 16G card I have. If there are still problems then it's phone-related.

MBK here I come - need to buy some other odds and ends.

I don't buy from that place, especially not phone stuff. Pop across to Paragon, the prices in the department store are fine, and the goods are proper.

Next time, get the 32GB phone version. In the mean time, use the cloud to backup the pics, the Google app does it automatically.

I'm with Terry on this one; given up on micro-SD cards...

It's how I share between devices and works great, though I don't do the automatic sync thingy....

A great app is EZ File Manager, which lets you add multiple clouds to your android devices....

Normally when you install google drive, it's linked to only one email account. With EZ File Manager I can link to my work google drive and dropbox accounts and my personal google drive accounts and share things between my clouds and my devices rather easily.

    Can't recommend the app enough.
