Best PC utilities. What do you run?

    So I use the following;

    Antivirus: Avast
    Firewall: Zonealarm
    Malware/spyware: Malwarebytes, Super anti spyware
System utilities: Glary Utilities, C Cleaner, Revo uninstaller
    Media players: VLC, Winamp

Cut and paste this list into a post changing the apps to what you use or want to add. Any must have tools or apps you cant live without?

Most of that anti shit does more harm than good, especially those that piss around in your registry.

I only have avg free for protection.

I also have that vlc player and winamp of yours Snub, but they get little use, now that I stream most my shit to the TV and surround using serviio, which is tons better than Samsungs own Allshare software.
Serviio is a free media server. It allows you to stream your media files (music, video or images) to renderer devices (e.g. a TV set, Bluray player, games console or mobile phone) on your connected home network.

    MSE isn't a firewall.

    Personally I think you're mad.

You should probably change that to "Malware/Spyware/Adware: Fucking loads of the shit".

I did run malware programs there for a while but they never found anything and I prefer to not have too much running in the background anyways....seems kinda dumb to have to install a 3rd party program (whats that Lasso thing you have) to keep in check all the other shite you having running.

If it all turns to shite it not a complicated process to dump the system and remount my HDD image.

Well if you saw the shit various appliances that I run hoover up before it gets anywhere near the users, you might have a different opinion. And that's just normal browsing.

Yeah my bad, is the point of the thread to list how many non essential programs you are running to see who has the system with the most baggage/lag ?

I'm far from a Techie typa guy, but from what I've read from people who know much more than me programs that mess about with your registry usually do more harm than good.

I believe that the stuff that could be cleaned out wouldn't effect your PC in any sort of negative way (making it slower, crashing etc.) but that some of the stuff that they may clean out could effect programs from running as they should.

I really don't know, just going on what I've read.

Having done, a program called RegScrub comes across as maybe a bit extreme for a home computer.

    Are you joking

    only 2 ? no way man, I'm a klepomaniac I've got at least 5

    I also have:

Ashaampoo 6 pro - a few more features than free 5

Jetscreenshot - free - if I want to quickly show the capture over the internet
Capture your screen, annotate it and share screensnap over the Globe in three clicks!

Sketchbook Snapshot - opens the image straight up in Autodesks art programme - Sketchbook Pro- so I can cheat and trace around it , just like when I was a kid using greaceproof paper.

    yes
gone are the days of scratching my head trying to get '' print screen'' to work .
