Being bored and being the time of the month that I send all me money to the missus... I thought I'd buy meself something.
Firstly, I saw an HP tablet for 100 pounds - not bad, has an SD card, the rest is average, but for leaving on the coffee table, taking out sometimes if I want a coffee and look at the internet thought it'd be ok. The quality felt ok.
Then, just next to it was an ASUS padphone which also has 3g, 32gb, and a much nicer screen, so I though - hello...
Then, next to that was an iPhone mini for the same price as the ASUS. I played around with it, and it felt nice. Good quality, as are the other 2.
So, I got me phone out and started to compare screen sizes, weight, etc. & what did I notice... well, the 7" Android tablets had big bezels and the screens did not appear to be much bigger than the 5" on me phone; screens probably not as good either, certainly not on the HP. The iApple, on the other hand, felt substantially bigger, just the right size in fact. So, I thought, should I? Could I? So, I started looking at the specs - for the price of the 32gb ASUS with SD card slot, I could get a 16gb iApple with no expansion capability. On me phone, I currently have the 16gb and a 32gb micro SD card, that feels enough although I might put a 64 gb micro SD card in soon. So, the iApple with 32gb and 4g (might want to use it out and about, airport, etc) was farking expensive - about 400 pounds, and even then I wouldn't feel happy with the storage, or the iApple iTunes (music being a main reason for the device), so - no, couldn't do it.
I didn't buy anything because: 1) nothing felt quite right, I liked the 8" size (looked at an 8" Samsung which had a micro sd card slot, but I hate Samsung they just feel so cheap and plasticy, plus it was over 300 pounds...); 2) I know some new tablets, some at 8", are coming out soon; 3) thought I'd get a better deal, certainly a better selection, in Muscat.
I can certainly understand how folks would be happy with their Samsung 8"; nice tablet with good functionality, bit pricey for the cheap feel though...
7" tablets just seem that little bit too small.
Any thoughts?
p.s. yes, I did consider the Xperia Z tablet, but I don't want a 10" tablet, especially not at that price...(even though it's waterproof)
