    Burning DVDs

I realise I'm a dwarf among giants in the computer savvy world of TeakDoor
but I'll have a go and let you know what I can about burning DVDs.

My burner is a Gigabyte 8x costing 6,000 baht and I use Nero v7 (I think) from Panthip 150 Baht.

If you're going to burn a DVD you can use the copy function on nero but the
    disc will probably need decrypting.
Google for DVD decrypter [free download.]
If you're going to copy a DVD9 you'll need to cut off some excess so you'll want a program called DVD shrink [free download.]

I use Ulead Movie Maker when I want to copy VCDs. I can get four VCDs on one DVD and the Ulead program does everything for you including a neat intro screen.

Many will say "I can get a DVD from Panthip for 100-150 baht, why would I want copies?"
Fair question. You won't find any copies of available DVDs in my collection but if you like Asian movies that don't make it onto general or pirate release you can Tsutaya them and copy to your hearts desire.
I have a weakness for Jap/Korean horror and I've copied about 30 movies over the past 5 weeks.

If you dabble I would love to get your experiences because I can't believe I'm doing it the best way.

Poolie, I dabble..and I know for a fact that i'm not doing it in the best way and would like to get into it more and more.. including dowloading off the net the many foreign language films..

my dabbling up to now consisted only of running copies for future (re)viewing pleasure (and due to impending senile forgetfullness i guess) of vcd blockbuster stuff i liked, rented for ~30 baht a pop ..

would like also to get into other material like old serials, comedy, documentaries.. etc all this before the foks turn the taps off to all this free stuff lurking out thar..

maybe a "how to fok holl'/wood room" could be arranged tucked away somewhere in the back here .. and by the way just today the sepo supreme court ruled against p2p file sharing.. don't know how far reaching or what all this implies but, i better get my shit together if i want to see some oldies before its all gone..

    Burning tip no 1:

My burner takes a while to put 4 vcds together on a DVD so I've made it the last thing at night job and while it's converting, writing and burning I go off to bed.

It's happened twice to me now I get up in the morning and find there's been an error half way through the burning process!!
Another 2 reflectors for an elephant's butt.

    The error?

Fucking Microsoft Antispyware decides to do a routine check! Doh!

I had a DVD with copy protection I wanted to duplicate, used DVD decrypter, worked fine, cloned a copy to my PC now have no idea how to burn it onto a DVD payable disc. Tried Nero but that doesn't seem to offer the option. Can anyone help ? plse

Peterpan: Use DVDDecrypter and save it as an ISO. Then you can burn it with Nero.

Sledge: Download the videos to your computer and use a program called ConvertXtoDVD to render them into DVD compatible files.
